Training Is Essential
Check to see if your potential sitter has had any form of training, such as, first aid, CPR certification, Heimlich Maneuver, etc. If not these courses can be found at the Red Cross, community hospitals, scouting programs, and some colleges offer Child Care classes.

Does the Sitter Love Children?
Watch the potential sitter with other children if possible. You can find out alot about a baby sitter through friends, church members, etc. Do they interact with all aged children? Do they ignore the children? Listen to your children talk or other children talk when speaking about the potential sitter. Kids are often the best judge of a sitter's skill.

Older Sitters
Older sitters are necessarily better than the younger ones. As long as they show a sense of responsibility and good judgement, they can be safe. Younger sitters seem to have an enthusiasm when they take care of children. Their schedules seem to be more flexible.

Baby Playing
Make sure the potential sitter watching your child or children during their waking hours knows that they are to engage and entertain them. Making a list of games, activities, etc. that your children like to do, will help in their comfort. Make sure to set guidelines of unacceptable activities are known, like watching 3 hours of television.

Questions To Ask
A child's age makes a huge difference in the requirements for their care.
Ask these questions of your potential baby sitter.
1. Are they comfortable taking care of a baby, like diapers, bottles, etc.
2. Do they know how to handle a child who refuses to go to bed?
3. Do they know how to enforce the house rules you have made?
4. Will they play with the child instead of letting them play on their own?
5.Will they know how to contact you, the police, or fire department if needed?

Challenge to a parent is finding a baby sitter who
is as competent and responsible as they are affordable.
Remember responsibility in a person comes first when hiring a baby sitter.

How much time do you spend with your children?
Not counting doing chores, taking to school, etc.
Good quality time.
Remember to LISTEN to them, really LISTEN!
What may be small to you is VERY IMPORTANT to them.
Every child needs to feel loved and cared about.
Spending quality time with each child shows them this love.
Every child IS A SPECIAL GIFT from God.
He has given you this child as a specail gift and in YOUR care.
These children are our future.
Too many children are left alone and some are abused.
Please pray for these children.
Pray the Lord will save them from the pain of their parents and each child will be placed in a loving home.
A child's life is suppose to have love, cared for, happy, fun and shown the right way to live.
BE THAT EXAMPLE!!!
BE A HERO IN YOUR CHILD"S LIFE!!!!!
