Kids Love Summer Camp!

Here they can make new friends, do activities, learn responsibility, explore the outdoors and relax. Here are some steps you can take to make sure your child has a fun and safe summer at camp.

1. Make sure you have checked out all the areas concering the camp.

2. Has your child been properly immunized?

3. Pack only what your child will absolutely need.
Children tend to lose things unexpectedly.
Their clothes should be durable and comfortable.
Usually shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes, and jeans are best.
You can also check with the camp to see what is required.

4. To protect your child against the sun, rain, and ticks, pack a favorite hat.
If it's their favorite, they may not lose it.

5. Make sure the shoes they wear are broken in.
New shoes tend to make blisters and feel uncomfortable.

6. Make sure you write your child's name on everything.
You can use an permanent marker.

7. Make sure you tell your child to tell someone where they are going when they wonder around the camp.
This will help when they don't return when they are called.
Children do tend to wonder unexpectedly, under the best supervision.

8. Let your child carry a whistle.
They can use this when hiking through the woods and signal when lost or hurt.

9. Teach your child to stay in one place if lost, so that the searchers can find them more quickly.

10. When camping, outerwear should be bright-colored.
This helps keep away insects.

11. Making a copy of your child's fotprint by photocopying the bottoms of their shoes, will help in case of an emergency.

12. Tell your child to drink plenty of water when playing outside.
Only water from safe water fountains, canteens, or bottled water is safe to drink.
Lakes and stream water has to be treated first, before drinking.

13. Do not pack expensive clothes or items.
These might be placed in other's hands while your child isn't looking or around.

14. Check with the camp for its policies on bringing bedding, special gear, equipment and spending money.

15. Pack sunscreen (at least SPF 15), lip balm, insect repellent, camera & film (if camp okays) stamped & addressed envelopes or postcards, a stuffed animal or family photograph, and all their medications.
(with dosage instructions and the original bottles)

Most of all, make sure your child knows that he or she is loved and they will be prayed for during their camp vacation.
Tell them to have fun!
