Someone once said "we are the sum of our choices." This quotation basically states we are who we choose to be. Your choices in life result in what you become as a person. This quotation is agreeable and it is shown in many works such as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
In the novel, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the quotation is very much proven. Dr. Jekyll was curious about his evil side so he created Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde was the sum of Dr. Jekyll's choices. His evil creation became out-of-control and messed up his name in society. Dr. Jekyll becomes nervous at the end of the book. He fears Mr. Hyde may do even more bad things then what he has already done. To save society from destruction by Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll killed himself.
In the novel Frankenstein, Frankenstein created a monster so that he could prove that you can bring life to inanimate objects when he finished creating the monster he didn't take responsibility for his action. As a result, Frankenstein caused the deaths of quite a few individuals. Frankenstein was a very paranoid & nervous person. The person he became at the end was a result of all the choices he made because he had lost his family and friends. If his choices were different then they would have lived differently.
In conclusion we are the sum of our choices. Whether good or bad we make choices that reflect our lives. In both novels, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Frankenstein, the protagonist were the sum of their own choices.
