Mid Term Essay

Robert Frost once said "two roads diverged in a wood, and I/....took the one less traveled by/and that has made all the difference." This quotation states that if you follow a path in life that people do not usually take, sometimes that path makes all the more difference in your life either good or bad. This quotation is agreeable and it is shown in such novels as Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
In the novel, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, this quotation is proven. Dr. Jekyll had to make a choice as to whether to go on with his life the way it was or to change his lifestyle to the way he wanted it to be. Dr. Jekyll chose to take the path to change himself and he ended up creating Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde kills a person. Dr. Jekyll ends up killing himself to keep society from the destruction of Mr. Hyde. This choice made a significant difference in Dr. Jekyll's life.
In the novel, Frankenstein, Frankenstein had also had two choices in life. One choice was to study modern science and the other was to see if it is possible to bring life to an inanimate object. Frankenstein chose to bring life to an inanimate object. He created a monster who was ostracized. Frankenstein's choice did make a difference which resulted in the death of his family and friends.
In both works, the outcome of each story ended in death. Also, in both works they made bad choices. This proves that the road less traveled is not always the right choice for everyone.
