Kaoru is the Mistress of the House and master of the "Kamiya Dojo". Her school is Kamiya Kasshin Ryu, a school that teachers people how to use kenjutsu to protect the others. She fights with Kenshin, Yahiko, and Sanosuke to defend the house hold and each other. After meeting Kenshin she invites Kenshin to stay and later Kenshin help her get her first Student Yahiko. Her duties are to clean around the house, make money and support the whole household and cook. When she does cook Yahiko and Sanosuke tell her food is appalling and she stinks at cooking.
