Obituary for S.G. Patton, Hardin County, Illinois
S.G. Patton ws born Feb. 27, 1864 and died May 17. 1925. He was married to Alice Treece in 1883, to this union was born five children. Four girls and one boy. The mother and son preceded him across the river of death. He was married to Mary J. Oxford in 1897, to this union was born three children two boys and one girl. He professed faith in Christ in 1893 and united with the General Baptist Church of Philidelphia. For the last few years he has lived near Mt. Zion Church and has been a great help to that church, always glad to help support the church he loved. Funeral services were held at the Angleton Cemetery by W.E. Dutton, singing by the Mt. Zion choir in the presence of a large congregation of weeping relatives and friends after which the body was laid to rest to await the call of his Master. He leaves a loving wife, seven children, six grandchildren, t wo sisters and a host of friends. Our friend has gone home, he had reached the summit of the hill of years and could look back along the way he had come and the sun glided past. He had come to the autumnal days. Death is not an enemy of the Christian but a friend. It is the hand that loosen us from the land-locked harbor of pain, affliction and sorrow to sail upon the sea of glory into the haven of eternal rest. He has gone home and the grave is the urn of memory holding all the precious things of him who is gone. Some day we will greet each other with good morning in the land God calls home.

Obituary for Joe Rutherford Hardin County, Illinois
OBITUARY Peacefully out of the toil and conflict and danger, to that distand radiant shore, passed the soul of Joe Rutherford, Tuesday evening 13 September 1955. Joe was born 23 October 1870, being at the time of his passing 84 years 10 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Ethel Patton, daughter of J.W. Patton and wife. Four children blessed this union, three sons namely: Harry (Chick), Eschol, deceased, and Virgil (Boy) and daughter Gladys. There are 5 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. He made his home with Boy and wife, Rhoda, who very tenderly cared for him, since the passing of his wife five years ago. His daughter came about four weeks ago to help care for him in the last stage of the dreaded disease, cancer. He never affiliated with any church, but was converted and was baptized by his son, Virgil, a minister of the Gospel. Remember he left every care.
