10. The Subsidies to the Country’s Biggest Pharmers - the Royals.Subsidies to the Leading Livestock Family. The government provides the royals with subsidies from a wide range of sources. They also receive a great many subsidies as pharmers. It would be interesting to know whether they receive more subsidies as pharmers than they do as royals. Sometimes it is difficult working out whether they are receiving subsidies because they are the royal family or because they are the country’s biggest landowners. Pharming Subsidies to the Leading Livestock Family. Since the death of saint diana, the public has become less and less willing to subsidize the mega wealthy royal family, the country’s biggest welfare benefit scroungers, so successive governments have been channelling funds to the windsors’ pharming properties rather than to them as individuals. Given that the public doesn’t mind subsidies to pharmers but is increasingly disenchanted with subsidies to the royals, it’s easier for the elite to channel subsidizies to the royal family through the pharming budget rather than the civil list. The civil list may be far smaller than it was in the past but when all the subsidies given to the royal family are included they add up to a substantial amount. 11. The Total Costs of Pharming Epidemics.Previous sections have explored the various types of subsidy which are being handed out to the country’s welfare benefit sponging pharmers. This section attempts to pull together the costs of particular epidemics. The conclusions to this section are scanty to the say the least because as far as is known there is no government department which sits down to analyze the total costs of such epidemics and neither the government nor the pharming industry want to collate such figures. 11.1: The Costs of the Bse Epidemic. 11.2: The Costs of the Foot and Mouth Epidemic. Payments to Veterinarians to Test for Foot and Mouth. “The British Veterinary Association .. provided more than 1,000 temporary veterinary inspectors at £250 per day ..”[66] Payments to Murder Animals. .. “kennel slaughtermen provided by the Master of Foxhounds Association to kill stock for £18 per hour.”[67] Payments to Hauliers to Transport and Dispose of Murdered Animals. Payments to Clean up after the Slaughter. Payments to Disinfect Diseased Pharms/Secondary Cleaning. “The cleansing before re-stocking had been stopped for two weeks by the Prime Minister after he was told those in England were costing £100,000 on average to disinfect against £30,000 in Scotland. A review by accountants and quantity surveyors has revealed irregularities in invoices from contractors, some of which are big construction companies. One paid employees half the hourly rate charged to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The same contractor tried to pass on a £300-a-day administration charge. Time sheets for one employee showed him working on five different sites on one day. Some contractors were unwilling to produce time sheets. Elliot Morley, the animal health minister, said the review would cut the cost of cleansing before re-stocking to £36,000 a farm on average. "Some existing cleansing and disinfecting contracts will be cancelled and others tightened. In some cases payments will be reclaimed." Mr Morley said farmers would get the first chance to tender for contracts to clean their farms. But some costs might be reclaimed from them where improvements to buildings went beyond those necessary to disinfect them.”[68]; “Secondary cleaning, which takes place after all traces of a cull have been removed, lasts for months. Most work began last month and has so far cost £75 million. Lord Carter, Labour's chief whip in the Lords, emphasised that the Government was not legally obliged to pay the secondary costs. These could be borne by the farmer or the Government. He said that costs were "unacceptably high, adding: "The quality of invoicing is poor and variable. The review is intended to improve the basis for payment and put it on a proper footing." Primary cleansing would continue at Government expense, Lord Carter said.”[69] Compensation to Pharmers for Culled Animals. “The revelation about the million-pound compensation payments coincides with new figures showing that foot and mouth has cost taxpayers more than the entire British agricultural industry produces in pre-tax profits each year. Last year the net value of all farm produce was £1.9 billion. By contrast, ministers admitted last week that foot and mouth has cost taxpayers £2.2 billion in direct costs - and several times that in indirect costs such as damage to tourism.”[70] The Creation of Biosecurity Zones. The government has had to set up biosecurity zones in an attempt to stop pharmers spreading the disease. This involves a wide range of people from trading standards offices to the police, “For the next month or so that will continue to be Mr Mair's fate in north Yorkshire. As the county's chief trading standards' officer, he will monitor the 15 joint police/trading standards patrols whose job is to enforce the law in the tough new 'biosecurity zone' that covers 900 square miles of the county. This night-and-day animal watch is sponging up resources. Volunteers have arrived from trading standards offices in Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Cornwall. Fifteen extra staff have been taken on to run the county's call centre for worried farmers.”[71] Storers to Deal with Surplus Animals. “Hundreds of thousands of lambs are to be bought, slaughtered and frozen by the government to cope with a huge surplus created by foot and mouth disease. The government will then mount a campaign to encourage people to eat them.”[72] Advertising Costs to Encourage people to Eat Diseased meat. “The government is considering whether to pay £2.7m toward the campaign, which would match funds from the meat and livestock commission and double funds available to boost lamb sales at home following the ban on exports because of foot and mouth.”[73] Estimates of the Total Direct Costs of the Foot and Mouth Epidemic. “An estimated £2.3bn of taxpayer's money has been spent on the foot-and-mouth crisis.”[74] 12. The Economic Costs that the Pharming Industry imposes on Society.Pharmers get a kaleidoscope of subsidies, compensation payments, tax concessions, government levies, write-offs, pay-offs, indirect subsidies, social subsidies, etc, which even the most highly skilled team of accountants would have difficulties in totalling up. This work has focused solely upon the monies given directly, or indirectly, to pharmers, the pharming industry, pharming-related industries, and costs that pharmers should pay for but which are written off. But this is by no means the end of the financial benefits received by pharmers. The pharming industry generates a huge range of costs which have not been assessed. It would be possible to determine more of the costs which the pharming industry imposes on society, through a cost-benefit analysis. However, such an analysis is not only beyond the scope of this work, there are doubts as to its legitimacy in determining the financial state of this throat slitting, blood sucking, Earth-wrecking, industry. The point that needs to be made is that even the above outline of subsidies to pharmers and the pharming industry is far from being a comprehensive assessment of the financial implications of the pharming industry. A few examples are outlined in this section solely to indicate the type and scale of the costs which have so far been ignored. 12.1: The Bse Epidemic. The losses suffered by the brutish economy because of the bse epidemic have been considerable, In november 1996, andrew pudephatt estimated, “Bans on brutish beef have cost us more than £500 million in exports and an estimated 6,000 jobs.”[75] In march 1998 it was stated, “According to a government commissioned report, the first year of the bse crisis cost britain nearly £1 billion and 1,000 jobs. The impact was less severe because consumers and manufacturers switched from beef to british pork, lamb and poultry. Jobs were saved because the government pumped £1.5 billion of taxpayers’ money into subsidies and compensation for farmers, abattoirs and renderers. Once government subsidies and the growth in other u.k. meat sales were taken into account, the farming industry actually saw a rise in revenue in 1996 compared to the previous year.”[76] By 1999 the estimate was that, “The mad cow crisis will have cost the taxpayer £4.2 billion by march 2001, shock new figures reveal.”[77] 12.2: The Foot and Mouth Disease. Once the foot and mouth disease had been diagnozed in brutland, the european community immediately banned the export of meat and Animals from brutland. This was a huge extension of its ban on the export of bseef. This led to a loss of income for many pharmers. However, it was the government’s closure of the countryside that really contributed substantially to the costs of the disease. The continuing potent, and lethal, power of the brutish landowning aristocracy was demonstrated in all its vile, brutal, nastiness by the foot and mouth epidemic. The moment the disease was diagnozed, the government instantly ordered the complete shutdown of the countryside. In effect it sacrificed the rural tourist industry for the sake of saving the aristocracy’s pharming interests - even though pharming is far less profitable than tourism. There was no debate about the merits of the policy - it was just applied instantly as if the landowning aristocracy had issued a decree. Parliamentary democracy stood revealed as just a front for the continuing power of the aristocracy. The pharming industry may have been acting in its own best economic interests but, forcing the closure of over half the country, was far from being in the country’s best economic interests. However, the economic damage caused by closing down the countryside was probably less serious than when, in the mid 1970s, the miners forced the country onto a four day week. The outbreak of the disease produced some early estimates of the likely cost of the disease. These estimates were all very substantial. On february 25th, a week or so after the start of the epidemic, it was argued, “Britain’s “hellish” foot and mouth farm plague will cost every taxpayer a staggering £462. And a sunday people investigation has revealed that the true, hidden costs are set to soar to £12b. That’s enough to pay for 260 new hospitals or 1.5 million hip replacement operations .. Labour mp austin mitchell said, “It’s an awful waste of money which could be far better spent on other things.”[78] On march 18th 2001 david smith and michael prescott highlighted calculations by the centre for economics and business research, “The foot and mouth crisis will cost the economy £9 billion and deprive the chancellor of nearly £3 billion in tax revenues, according to economists. The figures, which are far higher than previous estimates .. The bill for the epidemic is equivalent to £370 per household and would be enough to build 90 new general hospitals. The calculations by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) show the biggest impact will be on tourism, with a loss of £2.7 billion from the domestic market and £5.2 billion from overseas. Farming and related industries will be hit by £3.6 billion. With consumers switching spending away from holidays in the countryside, the net effect will be to cut the national income by £9 billion, or 1.1%.”[79] On may 12th, “A massive drop in tourists is due to be revealed because of the foot and mouth crisis. Numbers are expected to fall by a fifth this year, from a predicted 25 million to 20 million. And spending by visitors is likely to plummet £2.5 billion from the estimated £13 billion, says the british tourist authority. Senior vets have suggested as many as 30% of cases confirmed in the field have proved negative in laboratory tests.”[80] After the flurry of initial estimates, the landowning aristocracy began to reassert its grip over the country’s media and thereafter the estimated costs of the epidemic began to shrink rapidly thereby giving the impression that they weren’t going to be substantial at all. Although the media covered the effects of the epidemic on individual businesses in the rural tourist industry, the total of costs suffered by all businesses didn’t seem that substantial. On june 12th it was reported, “A slump in sales of air tickets to britain has been blamed on the foot and mouth crisis. The number of people flying in from america dropped by 10% last month.”[81] On july 13th it was stated, “Hotels have lost up to a quarter of their business as american tourists avoid britain due to the foot and mouth crisis. Twenty four per cent of country hotels and 19% in rural towns saw turnover drop by a quarter from april to may, the british hospitality association found.”[82] On august 5th it was stated, “The revelation about the million-pound compensation payments coincides with new figures showing that foot and mouth has cost taxpayers more than the entire British agricultural industry produces in pre-tax profits each year. Last year the net value of all farm produce was £1.9 billion. By contrast, ministers admitted last week that foot and mouth has cost taxpayers £2.2 billion in direct costs - and several times that in indirect costs such as damage to tourism.”[83] The university of wales believes the cost of the mass cull policy would be much greater than a vaccination policy, “The cull coincided with the publication of a study showing that vaccinating animals against foot and mouth would have been at least £3 billion cheaper than the slaughter policy. The research, by Professor Peter Midmore, an economist at the University of Wales, claimed that the cost of the current operation could be halved if healthy animals were inoculated now. The study claimed that a programme of vaccinating animals in "rings" around outbreaks would have cost between £1.5 billion and £2 billion - compared with the £5 billion the slaughter policy is expected to have cost by the end of the year.”[84] The best gauge of the impact of the foot and mouth epidemic on the economy came at the end of july when the treasury announced their figures for economic growth. There had been a slow down in the country’s economy in the second quarter but although it was the worst figure for a couple of years it was not substantial. The conclusion was that the foot and mouth epidemic had not been the economic disaster that many feared, “The Treasury said economic growth slipped to 0.3% over the last three months, the worst figure since 1998. The economy is now growing at an annual rate of only 2.1% falling below the level forecast by the chancellor in his budget in march. As a result, his tax take is expected to drop forcing the government to borrow far more than expected. The foot and mouth crisis does not appear to have been a critical factor, as had been feared earlier.”[85] 12.3: After 3,000 years of Pharming the First Cost-Benefit Analysis. It’s taken 3,000 years since oomans started pharming but finally the first cost-benefit analysis of pharming is currently being carried out. The preliminary results have been provided, “Farming costs britain more than £2.3 billion each year, according to the most detailed study yet of the industry’s wider balance sheet. This bill, which includes the cost of cleaning up pollution, repairing habitats and coping with sickness caused by farming, almost equals the industry’s income (sic - you mean subsidies). The study puts figures on the external costs of farming - the costs that farmers themselves don’t have to pay for. It comes up with a cost of £208 per hectare, which is double the amount suggested by previous, less detailed, studies of the costs in germany and the united states. But the survey’s chief author jules pretty of the centre for environment and society at the university of essex, still describes this figure as “very conservative.” The figures in the study have been compiled from many different sources. In 1996, water companies spent £214 million removing pesticides, nitrates, and farm pathogens from drinking water. The bill of £1.1 billion for air pollution and greenhouse emissions includes, for example, the cost of flood protection as a result of rising sea levels. “We have been explicitly conservative” says pretty. He says that lack of reliable data forced him to leave out some costs, such as the health impact on farmers of using pesticides. He also ignored the damage farmers do to their own land, and more intangible costs such as the value of spoilt landscapes. “The study has only estimated externalities that give rise to actual financial costs,” says pretty. Pretty sees the figures as a strong argument for redirecting agricultural subsidies, which currently run at £3 billion a year. He says the lion’s share of the subsidy should go to farms that do not damage the environment whilst dirty farms should lose their subsidy. (According to jim dixon of english nature) “The government looks at farm incomes and subsidies, but not at the external costs of modern farming on the environment or consumers”[86] Given the power of the landowning ruling elite is it surprising there has never before been a cost-benefit analysis of the pharming industry? 13: Conclusions.13.1: More Subsidies for the Pharming Welfare Benefit Scroungers: Mcblair Promises a Free Market for Everyone ..... except Pharmers. When labour was first elected in 1997, mcblair appointed jack cunningham as secretary of state for agriculture specifically to bring about fundamental reforms to the pharming industry. Almost immediately, pharmers launched a political war against the government for more subsidies. They demanded more subsidies for the bse epidemic, which they had helped to spread around the country, even though they were also insisting at the same time that bse had completely disappeared from the country’s livestock herds. At the end of 1997 they demanded compensation for the increase in the value of the currency which was making their subsidized exports too expensive. They started blockading ports around the country and these law-abiding citizens even highjacked a lorry and threw its contents into the sea. Throughout the rest of mcblair’s first administration they continued blockading ports, supermarket depots, milk depots, around the country. In march 1998 they marched into london demanding further subsidies. It was this event which caused mcblair to capitulate to the pharming industry. He began providing them with a stream, and then a torrent, of subsidies. In autumn 1999 the pharmers repaid this vast increase in subsidies by nearly driving the country into a trade war with france which would have resulted in millions of people losing their jobs. In september 2000, the pharmers triggered off the fuel tax insurrection even though they hardly paid any tax on their fuel. In the autumn 2000 they were the major contributor to the floods which inundated 11,5000 homes with pharmers’ manure. And in 20001 they triggered off a foot and mouth epidemic as a result of their criminal activities and closed down one of the country’s biggest industries. Over the last 15 years the pharming industry has caused four major national disasters, three of them over the last two years and two global disasters. There are a number of points which need to be made about pharmers’ deplorable activities. Firstly, in the last three national disasters, the labour government defended pharmers wholeheartedly and baled them out financially. It never once criticized pharmers despite the fact that pharmers’ mass criminality was responsible for causing these disasters. Secondly, the government never considered allowing pharmers to go out of business to enable the land to recover from the destruction that pharmers had wreaked upon it. The Forests that would have grown on redundant pharms would have made a major contribution to combating global burning. Never has a government squandered such a glorious opportunity for combating a pending global disaster. Never let it be said that this country was unable to take the action needed to curb global burning. All that mcblair had to do to combat global burning was nothing - and yet he had to prove himself a major Earth wrecker by baling out the pharming industry. Thirdly, for the first three years in office, the mcblair government insisted on freezing public spending and reducing the country’s welfare budget. But it still managed to find substantial subsidies for pharmers. It is not known whether these subsidies came from previously allocated public expenditure (if they were it is not known which allocation lost out as a result) or whether it was additional public expenditure. For three years the mcblair government blocked demands for increases in public sector wages since it was believed this would have a crippling effect on the country’s borrowing requirements, drive up interest rates, boost inflation, and eventually cause economic collapse. And yet the mcblair government happily handed over vast subsidies to the pharming industry without causing any of the consequences it had been warning about. It was as if subsidies to the pharming industry had no impact on the country’s financial condition. It is amazing that pharmers’ vast subsidies had no impact on public borrowing, no impact on the public sector borrowing requirement, and no impact on inflation. It is only when other groups in society demand subsidies that the government argues that such subsidies would have a disastrous effect on the economy. Fourthly, in the government’s final year of its first administration, many people expected the government to relax its spending controls to provide extra funding for pensioners, the nhs, schools, and urban areas. But then the fuel tax insurrection was followed by the floods and then the foot and mouth epidemic. Three national disasters in quick succession all caused by the same loony, Earth wrecking, industry. As a consequence, all the money that might have been spent on pensioners, doctors, nurses, and urban people, ended up being given to the landowning elite. So, at the end of the three year freeze on public spending, pensioners, doctors, nurses, and urban people, ended up with nothing whilst pharmers waltzed off with all the money. All those people who endured three years of a pay freeze because of supposedly difficult economic times, and who believed they would be rewarded for their moderation once the economy had recovered, then had the indignity of watching the lanbour government stuffing into pharmers’ pockets with subsidies. What was surprising was the complete lack of discussion about such colossal amounts of money being transferred to the pharming industry. The government just handed over these subsidies as if pharmers had an inalienable right to this money. The public expressed no anger about such vast quantities of money being given to pharmers rather than to more deserving groups. This grossly incompetent, highly embarrassing, and utterly sickening, industry will doubtlessly use these subsidies to finance another, self induced, disaster. There is no other group in society who constantly demands and receives so many subsidies. Every other word spoken by pharmers concerns subsidies. They won’t do anything unless they’re subsidized - they even want subsidies for the time spent applying for subsidies and the travel costs incurred for attending demonstrations demanding more subsidies. Fifthly, when labour swept to power it had a huge parliamentary majority and a huge groundswell of public support after the 18 year long winter of rancid, nasty, narrow-minded, belligerent, and corrupt, tory governments. It had the parliamentary power to do what it wanted. During the 1997 general election campaign mcblair indicated his support for gatt and the removal of all barriers to global free trade. When he became prime minister he made jack cunningham secretary of state for agriculture in order to abolish pharm subsidies and reform the european community’s common agricultural policy to make way for the next round in the gatt negotiations and global free trade. But after the countryside march in march 1998 he capitulated to the pharming industry. This capitulation became more and more abject year after year. He sacked cunningham in virtually the same way that, a decade earlier, thatcher had sacked edwina curry. He rescinded the ban on bse infected bseef-on-the-bone. He refused to do anything about bse in Sheep. He continually poured vast subsidies into the pharming industry most of which was wasted as a result of a succession of national disasters. The new environmental standards agency and the new food agency were neutered to the satisfaction of the pharming industry. The maffia was put back in charge of food policy. The national pharmers union opened up an office at 10 downing street to convey its orders more efficiently to the prime minister. The government dropped the implementation of environmental reforms to the pharming industry from the fuel tax escalator to Animal welfare. The pit of this capitulation came when the national pharmers’ union was able to dismiss the government’s support for a vaccination programme to stop the foot and mouth epidemic and told the government when it could, or could not, hold a general election. When mcblair came into office he was one of the most popular and politically powerful prime ministers of modern times but he threw it away for the sake of the pharming industry. This was a remarkable turn around of events. 13.2: Mcblair tries to end Pharmers’ Subsidies ... by giving them more Subsidies. The labour government’s treatment of pharmers has been bizarre. It has been providing them with more and more massive subsidies ... as a means of weaning them off their welfare benefit dependency. Every time mcblair has given pharmers a vast dollop of welfare benefits he’s insisted on reforms to pharmers’ disease-spreading, disaster-loving, Earth-wrecking, industry. But all they do is laugh at him because he’s such a push-over and then proceed to create a new disaster to provide themselves with even more subsidies. 17.11.98. “The government yesterday threw hard hit farmers a £120 million lifeline but warned their future could be secured only by a shake-up in european agriculture.”[87] 6.1.99. “The Government responded to the worst farming crisis since the 1930s with rescue packages of £85 million and £120 million in the last year, but says long-term reform is inevitable.”[88] 2.2.2000. “Tony blair yesterday outlined a new contract between government and pharmers in which any extra cash support would be tied to long term reform of agriculture. Detailing £3.5b government and e.u. annual support for pharmers plus aid packages worth nearly £800m mr. blair did not rule out further cash support.”[89] 31.3.2000. “Tony Blair warned struggling farmers yesterday that a £200m aid package must be matched by renewed willingness to restructure their ailing industry. The latest package is the third big one in two years and takes additional aid, including deferred extra charges, under Labour to £635m. It helps to take the support of British and EU taxpayers for national agriculture to nearly £6bn a year. Mr Blair said: `Farming is not just an industry. (True. It’s more like a criminal fraternity dedicated to the death and destruction of everything in its path including the Earth itself). It is a crucial part of our national way of life, of our countryside, of our people. (This is the eco-nazis civilization of death, devastation, and geocide). Not for many decades has government and the farming food industry worked so closely at a strategic level to define our common vision, the plan to achieve it, and the measures needed to support farmers in the current crisis.”[90] 23.2.2001 Unfortunately, throughout the foot and mouth epidemic, mcblair has almost entirely forgotten about reforming the pharming industry. His sole purpose has been to restore the disease-ridden industry to its former grandiose, decrepit state, “Tony blair pledged yesterday to consider compensation for farmers. Saying the outbreak was the “last thing” they needed after a price collapse and the bse fiasco, he added, “It has been a very, very tough time for them. We will look at how we can help them.”[91] The Results of all these Subsidies - More Subsidies. Nothing could reveal the extent to which pharmers regard mcblair as a soft touch for more and more subsidies than when a demonstration was held outside downing street by the tourist industry the day after mcblair announced the date of the 2001 general election. The demonstrators demanded a staggering £12 billion in compensation! I better not laugh at this. I remember a few years ago laughing dismissively when i heard ben gill demanding a billion pounds worth of compensation for something or other thinking there wasn’t the slightest chance of him getting a tenth of this - but he got his billion and a lot more to boot! When public sector workers have demanded increases in their wages of a couple of million pounds the labour government hit the roof denouncing them as greedy and threatening that such handouts would topple the country into an economic collapse. And yet the tourist industry had obviously been looking admiringly at pharmers’ successes. It had seen how their pharming colleagues pushed up their subsides from a measly £3 billion a year to anywhere between £6billion to £10billion a year, so obviously this became their target. If, at the start of the first mcblair administration, people had been told that in 2001 a group would organize a demonstration demanding £12 billion in subsidies, the vast majority would have regarded such demonstrators as being clinically insane. And yet mcblair’s pharming subsidies have been so lavish this is now regarded as being politically feasible. Throughout this work it has been highlighted how government subsidies to the pharming industry have just resulted in further subsidies being given to clear up the mess created by the original set of subsidies. Despite endless government exhortations to reform the industry, few reforms have been implemented. If anything, the labour government has been forced to take more and more reforms off the agenda because pharmers claim they are too poor, despite being recipients of billions of pounds’ worth of subsidies, to be able to implement such regulations. But, then again, pharmers and tories alike seem to regard all laws they don’t approve of as just bureaucratic red tape which can be ignored. 13.3: Pharmers Living in a Fantasy World in which they don’t get £6 billion a year in subsidies. Denialism gone Mad. Ask pharmers how much welfare benefits they receive and they’ll inevitably state they don’t receive anything. They boast they’re a proud, independent, people who stand on their own two feet and wouldn’t take a penny in charity from anyone not even if they were so destitute they couldn’t afford any tax-free red diesel for their tax free 4x4 range rover imitation tractors. For example, david handley, chairman of the pressure group Farmers for Action said, “We’re not subsidized on anything. I don’t know where this bloody nonsense has come from.”[92] 13.4: Weaning Pharmers off Subsidies would require a Freebie to a Subsidy Rehabilitation Unit. Pharmers’ addiction to their subsidies is far more acute than heroin addiction. Weaning pharmers off welfare benefit dependency is likely to require at least six months on an all expenses paid counselling course in a subsidy rehabilitation clinic in the bahamas. 13.5: The Money Spent on Pharmers could have been Spent on the Nhs, Education, Pensioners, Urban and Inner city Areas. When the labour government came into power it had a choice between giving more money to pensioners, schools, nurses, doctors, teachers, sick miners, bse-cjd victims, people living on run down council estates/inner city areas, or giving yet more subsidies to pharmers who desertify the countryside, boost flooding, spread mind-altering diseases around the country, and destabilize the climate. It chose the latter. Tony travers explains labour’s betrayal of its urban supporters, “Despite the fanfare when the urban white paper was launched, there was nothing for the cities in the Queen's speech. Could that be because, read back-to-back with last week's rural white paper, the two contradict each other? Between them, the government intends to make it less likely that people will quit metropolitan centres and more likely that those who live in rural areas will be happy. The two objectives do not add up. Here is the problem. For many years people have flooded away from older, larger towns and cities towards the safe beauty of the countryside. Once transport and telecommunications made it possible to enjoy the benefits of the city while living in the countryside, it is small wonder that millions fled the (often imagined) horrors of Manchester, Liverpool and the rest. New initiatives, funding programmes and local government changes are proposed. For example, there will be more money for rural policing, extra resources for affordable housing in the countryside, dramatic improvements in rural bus services and more powers for parish councils. Universal telephone and postal services are provided by way of cross-subsidies from towns and cities. The rural white paper makes clear how the government intervenes to bring the technological advantages of urban concentration to rural areas: "the market alone will not deliver affordable high-speed connections to all rural areas. We will therefore work through the development agencies to develop effective strategies for the roll-out of higher bandwidth (new cable and/or wireless links) services in rural areas, taking full advantage of public sector investment". By moving to rural areas, they enjoy less stressed schools and hospitals, cleaner air and a chance of living somewhere with which they are really satisfied. Better still, governments of all parties will guarantee that universal service provision is subsidised so all the relative advantages of the cities are on tap.”[93] 13.6: Making the World’s Biggest Earth-Wreckers Custodians of the Countryside. Pharmers are stewards of the countryside in the same way the mafia are stewards of the international banking system. The green organizations who believe the world’s biggest Earth wreckers should become custodians of what they have previously wrecked are helping to prop up these eco-nazis, “The council for the protection of rural england said farmers needed to be supported as “stewards of the countryside”.”[94] 13.7: Getting the Big Picture. For 18 years successive tory governments promoted the ideology of the free market, global free trade, the free movement of capital, and globalization. However, never once did it seek to impose such rules on the pharming industry - mainly because many of their mps were pharmers who used their positions of power to steal public money to subsidize their own pharms. The labour government has been equally committed to this same ideology but it too has given the pharming industry vast subsidies - probably even more subsidies than the tories. Isn’t this a bit strange? What’s going on here? Let’s put aside the nauseating smell of corruption and hypocrisy emanating from the pharmers in the house of commons, and the land-owning pharming aristocracy in the house of lords, and ask, which is the worst for the Earth? Globalization, the free market, the wto/imf/world bank or the continued domination of the landowning-pharming elites in each country around the world? The Power of the National Landowning Elite. Many might be tempted to answer that globalization is far more dangerous than domination by the landowning pharming elites. In which case it ought to be pointed out that the landowning pharming elites use their power to: * protect appalling inequalities in land ownership - inequalities which exist to the same degree in every country around the world thereby depriving both the poor and Wildlife of a place to live; and, * obtain truly gargantuan subsidies for their pharming interests. In brutland, these subsidies are not only more than is given to any other industry - they are bigger than the sum total of subsidies given to all other industries. Around the world the sum total of government subsides given to all industries is gargantuan but governments give the most substantial of all subsidies to pharmers. The scale of the global pharming subsidies dwarfs the icons of leftie and green hatreds. Norman myers states, “The total of almost $1.5 trillion is two-and-a-half times greater than the Rio Earth Summit's budget for sustainable developments - a sum that governments dismissed as unthinkably huge. The total is also larger than all but the top five national economies, and larger than the top 12 corporations' annual sales put together. It is twice as much as global military spending per year. Were just half the world's perverse subsidies to be phased out, half the funds released would enable many governments to abolish their budget deficits, engage in a fundamental re-ordering of fiscal priorities and to safeguard their environments more than through any other single measure. ”[95] Subsidizing Earth-wrecking Activities. These subsidies enable pharmers to maintain their role as: * the world’s biggest cause of deforestation; * the world’s biggest cause of environmental devastation; * the world’s biggest polluters; * the world’s biggest cause of the destruction of Biodiversity; * the world’s biggest slaughterers of enslaved Animals; * the world’s biggest slaughterers of Wildlife; * the world’s biggest contributors to the sixth mass extinction of Biodiversity to occur during the Earth’s 4 billion year history; * the world’s biggest cause of global inequalities in land ownership; * the world’s biggest contributors to global poverty and immiserization; * the world’s biggest mass murderers, (the expropriation of land from the poor, diseases, food poisoning, pesticides, etc. Throughout ooman history pharmers have caused more ooman deaths than any other industry. The pharming industry has been like a perpetual black death hanging over civilization); * one of the world’s biggest traffickers and abusers of illegal drugs; * one of the main causes of drug resistant superbugs; and, finally, but by no means least, * the world’s biggest contributor to global burning. It’s true that the wto, gatt, world bank, imf, and global capitalism, are enemies of the Earth, oomans, enslaved Animals, and Wildlife, but the biggest enemies are the entrenched, blood sucking, national, landowning, pharming elites. The world’s national pharming elites are decimating the Earth’s life support system and their dominance of countries’ political systems enables them to prevent any serious action being taken to combat global burning or the collapse in the Earth’s life support system.[96] The Mindless Stupidity of the Anti-Globalization Protestors. Given this analysis what were all those young people doing on may day 2001 and in genoa, protesting about globalization rather than domestication, the dominance of national, landowning, pharming elites over each society around the world? Because they’re dupes. They’re being duped by a range of groups propping up the domestication process. The Landowning Pharming Aristocracy. The landowning pharming aristocracy perceives globalization as a threat to its gargantuan subsidies. As a result it is trying to persuade people that the country’s geophysiological/social/pollution problems are being caused not by the pharmers but by global institutions. Scientists. Many scientists have connections with the landowning pharming aristocracies e.g. sir crispin tickell, so it is quite natural for them to blame the fossil fuel industries for causing global burning rather than the real culprits i.e. the global pharming industry. Brutland’s Environment Agency. Despite the fact that pharmers are the world’s biggest Earth rapists, mcblair still appointed a pharmer to run the country’s environment agency, “Lord de ramsey .. has been chairman of the environment agency since 1995 and also chairs the 6,500 acre family farming business in cambridgeshire.”[97] Brutland’s National Parks. The managers of all the country’s national parks believe that it is imperative for livestock to continue grazing the entire parkland which, as a result is a virtual ecological desert, “The (foot and mouth) crisis could ruin one of the country’s most beautiful regions, experts warned yesterday. “We are facing an absolute doomsday scenario,” said bob carter manager of the lake district national park. He warned that picturesque pastures could be reduced to scrubland and views that attract millions of tourists could be destroyed. Livestock in the region roam free. Mr cartwright said the consequences will be “devastating” if the park’s sheep have to be killed.”[98] The Guardian. Guardian writers such as john vidal, paul brown, tim radford, martin woollacott, robert mckie, george monbiot, etc, have all been fanning the anti-globalization protests and “scorning” the idea of Reforestation as a means of countering global burning because it would limit the extensification of the organic pharming industry. The Council for the Protection of Rural England. The council for the protection of rural england believes that pharmers, the world’s biggest Earth wreckers .. “needed to be supported as “stewards of the countryside.”[99] The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. “All nature reserves run by the royal society for the protection of birds were shut down for at least a week. The society has livestock on more than 60 of its sites and almost all having farming neighbours. National trust bosses closed all landscape parks containing livestock.”[100] Charles Secrett, Friends of the Earth. On channel 4 news, 10.6.2001, jon snow put it to charles secrett, the head of Friends of the Earth, that many of the pharms going out of business because of the foot and mouth epidemic, could be allowed to revert to Wilderness and Forests (and thus help to combat global burning). Secrett’s reply was staggering, ‘Oh no we don’t want that. We want to get farmers back onto these pharms. Wilderness ought to be left to national parks.” Firstly, notice that he wants farms not Forests. This is one of the country’s leading greens and he’s more interested in pharmers than he is in Forests or combating global burning. This is why his organization has been churning out the most unscientific rubbish about Forests for the last decade or so. Secondly, he was just conning people because brutland’s national parks are not Wilderness areas they’re all bloody pharms!!! This is why all brutland’s so-called parks had to be shut down during the foot and mouth outbreak because they’re full of slave Animals which eat every bit of greenery in sight! The decadence of the green movement is incredible to behold. It is remarkable the number of greens who are insisting that the government should give pharmers billions of quid in subsidies so they can return to devastating their land. The Ecologist. The Ecologist magazine is financed and edited by members of the landowning elite who, not surprisingly, want to direct protests away from the evils of the global pharming industry to the global institutions which would abolish their luscious subsidies. For the last thirty years this magazine has extolled the virtues of tribal peoples as a means of legitimizing organic pharming which, in terms of the damage it would inflict on the Earth’s life support system, is not substantially or fundamentally different from conventional, intensive, pharming industry. The Green Movement. The green movement is dominated by members of the landowning pharming aristocracy who are also trying to protect the vast subsidies being given to their industry e.g. lord porritt, george monbiot (again), lord melchett of greenpeace, lord beaumont of whitley,[101] et al. Brutland’s landowning pharming elite regards the green party as their back up political party, dedicated to highly subsidized organic pharming, should their traditional political stooges, the tory party, disintegrate. The green party is just a front for the discontents in the landowning pharming elite who support organic, rather than conventional, pharming. The Brutish Animal Terrorism Industry. In brutland, over the last fifteen years, the highly-subsidized, over-bloated, obesity-inducing, disease-riddled, Earth-wrecking, Animal terrorism industry has caused many national, and even global, disasters: * triggered off a terrifying brain disease amongst slave Animals, including oomans; * persuaded the last tory government to pay out compensation to pharmers rather than reduce income tax and, as a consequence, lost the 1997 general election; * in autumn 1999, nearly triggered off, a trade war with france that threatened to throw millions of people out of work; * in september 2000, sparked the fuel tax insurrection which nearly brought the collapse of the labour government; * in the autumn 2000, contributed significantly, to the floods which drowned half the country in pharmers’ manure; and then, * to round off these self-inflicted disasters, these thick set, semi-illiterate, rural, turds who like maiming, mutilating, and murdering, everything around them insisted on a massive slaughter of Animals suffering from a common cold. This last year, september 2000 to september 2001, has been a complete mayhem, a veritable circus of insane antics by deranged pharming buffoons who have been treated as the pillars of wisdom by a vacuous, spineless labour government. To see may day and g8 protestors ignoring these home grown disasters and tilting at second rate, global institutions epitomizes the complete political and moral bankruptcy of the green movement. 13.8: American Pharmers Waiting to duff up Welfare Benefit Sponging Brutish Pharmers. The brutish landowning pharming aristocracy, which is stealing, at the very least, £6 billion a year in welfare benefit payments, believes it has got away with this grand theft because livestock consumers continue to regard pharmers as saints, rather than the criminals they really are, and are all too willing to provide even more subsidies should the pharming industry trigger off another epidemic in the future. Unfortunately for the pharmers wallowing in the luxury of publicly approved, state subsidies, this contented scene of pastoral bliss, of pharmer-politicians gently milking brain-rotting, moronic, livestock, is soon to face a challenge from the american pharming industry which wants the abolition of the vast pharming subsidies which brutland’s landowning aristocracy in parliament are awarding themselves. It’s one thing for the brutish junkers to get away with milking domestic livestock but it’s an entirely different matter confronting the cowboys from the land of the obese, “Bob Stallman, president of the five million-member American Farm Bureau Federation, said a 1994 agreement among nations not to challenge most agricultural supports for 10 years "has not offered U.S. exporters or exporters in other countries any peace from subsidized European Union competition." "Let me be clear - once this so-called peace clause expires, if an acceptable agreement on agriculture is not in sight, Farm Bureau will insist that our government challenge all illegal EU subsidies in place at that time," Stallman said in a speech to the AFBF annual meeting.”[102] He goes on to state that, "I find it irritating that the Europeans demean and slander the quality of our beef and arbitrarily reject the benefits of our commodities enhanced through biotechnology even as they try to deal with the 'mad cow' epidemic stampeding over their continent," Stallman said in remarks prepared for the 5,000 people at the AFBF convention. Europe has refused to accept shipments of U.S. beef produced with the use of artificial growth hormones despite adverse World Trade Organization rulings. It has not approved import of genetically modified U.S. corn. In both cases, U.S. officials say the products are safe. The largest U.S. farm group, tired of EU "slander" of American beef and grains, will demand an end to "all illegal" EU farm supports if new world trade rules are not at hand in 2004, its leader said Monday.”[103] The sooner these american cowboys start rounding up brutland’s criminal pharmer-politicians, the better it will be for the Earth. Once the cowboys have decimated the brutland’s landowning aristocracy, people around then world can get involved in a massive act of globalization - refusing to buy american livestock goods. 13.9: The Beneficiaries of the Public Money stolen by Pharming Mps - Rich Landowning, Tories like Michael Colvin. The colvins died when their country mansion burnt to the ground. The mirror splashed the story over the first three pages of its february 25th 2000 issue. It contained a snapshot of the life of a member of the country’s landowning pharming elite who wallowed in a life of luxury and political privilege. In parliament he spent his time stealing vast quantities of public money and redistributing it to the country’s landowning elite, whilst denouncing, in the most vicious terms, the subsidies given to the poor, the elderly, and to urban industries. He was the epitome of the rancid, corrupt, vile, nasty, landowning elite whose corruption keeps this country in an almost medieval state of retardation. Thank god he’s gone. It’s a shame about the beautiful house but its a delight this eco-nazis has gone, “The bodies of millionaire mp michael colvin and his wife nichola lay in the charred wreckage of their country mansion last night. The couple died .. in an inferno which turned the house into a blowtorch in the early hours. The £3 million house was so badly damaged that parts will have to be demolished .. It is feared that dental records may be the only way to identify the mp and his 62 year old wife. Detectives dampened speculation that mr colvin was targeted by arsonists because of his support for blood sports. He was chairman of the pro-hunting council for country sports, former vice-chairman of the british field sports society, allowed his land to be used by the fox hunt and bred pheasants and partridges for shooting parties on his estate. .. on their 1000 acre estate .. tangley house in the village of tangley, near andover .. One villager said, “Michael owns most of the buildings around here, including the pub. Michael colvin was one of the last tory “squires from the shires’. Educated at eton and sandhurst he served in the grenadier guards. The he settled into the life of a landowner with a wife whose father, shipping magnate nicholas cayzer, was among britain’s richest men. In his 20 years in parliament mr colvin concentrated upon farming, defence and field sports issues ... He repeatedly spoke up in the media for prince charles And he sparked anger with a vitriolic attack on princess diana, blaming her for the break-up of her marriage to the prince. In 1997 he was fined £1,000 with £14,000 costs for polluting a water supply by discharging 200,000 gallons of waste from a slurry pit.”[104] Over the last couple of years the mirror has been running black propaganda stories from mi5 against the Animal rights movement. It used the colvins’ frying as another opportunity to discredit the Animal rights movement by speculating that the fire could have been arson. People like colvin are disgusting but behind him are the even more disgusting shits like the piers morgan, editor of the mirror, who does the bidding of garbage like colvin by seeking to smear Animal rightists in such a vile way. The Animal terrorism industry has the media at its beck and call to prevent Animal rightists getting any publicity and to denigrate the Animal rightist movement so that nothing they say is taken seriously in political debates. Unfortunately, by blackening the Animal rights movement and refusing to listen to their arguments, the problems created by the Animal terrorist industry just go on and on and on. The media can pretend that anyone who loves bunny Rabbits is a potential firebombing terrorist who ought to be locked up for the safety of all the Animal murdering scumbags around the country or who should, at the very least, be silenced. But all the media is doing is running away from the arguments and perpetuating national disasters such as the bse epidemic, the autumn 2000 floods, the foot and mouth epidemic, etc which makes this country such a laughing stock around the world. The livestock in brutland may not be able to see or care that brutland is an ideologically retarded, violent, feudalistic pseudo-democracy but the disasters of the last few years have made this all too clear to the rest of the world. This country is just a joke. Michael colvin was the archetypal craggy island cretin. A man of immense wealth and privilege but who, fundamentally, was an eco-nazi. He was a mass murdering terrorist - not the people trying to save Animals. There’s one other very pleasing point about colvin’s death. He’s at long last gone to meet his makers i.e. all the Animals he has slaughtered during his lifetime. God isn’t a white english speaking male, and she isn’t a black south african lesbian. God is all the life forms that helped to make the Earth a sustainable planet. It will no longer be possible for this vile, odious, bigot to get away with his lies, deceits, and criminality, now that he’s under their jurisdiction as he did during his life. Fuck off colvin. Good riddance. |
