The Importance of the Earth's Carbon Spiral.

Carbon creates the most complex molecular structures of any element on Earth and this enables it to generate more chemical compounds than all the other elements put together;

Carbon is the backbone of dna, the double helix, the basis of all life on Earth;

The Earth's Carbon spiral is one of the critical factors influencing the Earth's climate;

Humans must regulate the climate to prevent, in the short term, increasing global burning and, assuming they manage to avoid triggering an unstoppable global burning disaster, in the long term, a global cooling disaster, the return of the next ice age;

Humans are Planetary beings. Everything they do affects the Earth's Carbon spiral and so everything they do must be measured in terms of its effects on the climate;

In order to regulate the Earth's climate it is imperative to draw up a global Carbon audit to measure the sources and sinks of Carbon and the flows of Carbon between them;

In order to prevent a global burning disaster and stabilize the climate it will be necessary to reduce the concentration of atmospheric Carbon and to increase the scale of the Earth's Forest cover to that which existed at the start of the industrial/agricultural revolutions. The global Carbon audit could be used to draw up a global Carbon budget to determine the polices needed to achieve these objectives. The only way to create a sustainable Planet is through the adoption of a global Carbon budget;

The global Carbon budget would then be used to calculate Carbon budgets for each country around the world i.e. how much Carbon they could release into the atmosphere, the scale of their Forest cover, and how long the transition period should be to enable them to achieve these Carbon targets;

Some countries (mainly the over-industrialized nations) are historical Carbon debtors because, since the start of the industrial/agricultural revolutions, they have released more Carbon than they have absorbed through Photosynthesis. All other countries are Carbon creditors (mainly the disintegrating/developing nations) because they have imported more Carbon (through Photosynthesis) than they have exported through pollution.

There will be no global agreement between all countries around the world over combatting global burning unless those countries responsible for causing global burning (mainly the over-industrialized nations) repay their debts to the Earth and unless those countries which have helped to moderate global burning (mainly the disintegrating/industrializing nations) are given credit for helping to stabilize the climate. Global geophysiological equity is only possible on the basis that each country balances its Carbon budget from the start of the industrial/agricultural revolutions;

If all countries were required to balance their historical Carbon budgets as part of a global policy to stabilize the climate, the the disintegrating/industrializing nations would have sufficient Carbon credits to eradicate poverty and thereby bring about global equality with the over-industrialized nations. The global Carbon budget is, therefore, not merely a means of regulating the climate and preventing a climatic disaster, it is a means for abolishing world poverty and global inequalities between the rich world and the poor world;

Global burning is caused by the exponential growth in:-

cars (the car, and car related, industries);

kids (ooman over-population);

Cattle (the Animal exploitation industries);

capitalism, and

carnage (wars and the military industrial complex).

Therefore, it is not possible to reduce global burning and stabilize the climate without diminishing the car, ooman over-population, capitalism, and carnage, in the Carbon debtor countries. However, by far the most effective policy would be the abolition of the Animal exploitation industry.

The fight against global poverty, Animal exploitation, the car, and ooman over-population are subsidiary to the fight against global burning for the simple reason that the latter incorporates all of these issues;

In order to balance their Carbon budgets, the historical Carbon debtors (mainly the over-industrialized nations) will not merely have to reduce cars, kids, capitalism, and carnage, they will have to Reforest their lands. Some of the biggest Carbon debtors will have to deconstruct polluting industries in order to carry out sufficient Reforestation projects to pay off their Carbon debts. Carbon creditors (mainly the disintegrating/industrializing nations) should have sufficient Carbon credits to continue developing until they have abolished poverty;

There is no way that every country around the world could reach a global agreement about combatting global warming by trying to determine how many cars, television sets, radios, houses, hospitals, power stations, industries, babies, immigrants, etc., each country should have. The complexity of such negotiations would be too vast. A global agreement can be achieved only by using a single factor, Carbon. The benefit of this approach is that each country would be free to decide how they should allocate their Carbon resources to balance their Carbon budgets. If they wanted more cars, they would have to go without more babies, etc. etc. Such decisions have to be made by local people in their local communities; they cannot be made globally. The Earth determines the climate; the global Carbon budget stabilizes the climate and determines the availability of Carbon resources; and local people decide how they wish to spend their Carbon resources;

Greens in this country (although not in Carbon creditor nations) are faced with the prospect of having to oppose every new road, industrial development, housing estate, water reservoir, etc to try and protect the Earth. It would be easier if they demanded that this country (and all other countries) should balance their historical Carbon budget because this would necessitate Reforesting huge areas of land and putting aside land for Wildlife thereby preventing any construction work in these areas. It is no good fighting a reactive, piecemeal campaign against the eco-nazis;

There are no local solutions to global warming. There is absolutely no point in any individual, any community, or any country, doing anything to save the Earth whilst there are other individuals, communities, and countries, damaging the Earth. The only way to combat global warming and create a sustainable Planet is through a global agreement which determines local actions;

Because the Earth's life support system is a unitary entity, the damage inflicted on the Earth is as much of a threat to those living on the other side of the Earth as it is to those living down the road. Humans have to care for the entire Earth and take responsibility for it in its entirety or, from the so-called safety of their own ecologically sound island, they'll witness the collapse of the Earth's life support system. We're all in the same boat. There's no point in a few individuals looking after their bit of the boat if others are destroying theirs. There is either a global agreement to which every individual, community and country is committed or else all humans will perish.We survive together, or perish together.

Each country would use its national Carbon budget to determine how much land would have to be set aside as ooman-free Wilderness areas; how much land has to be Reforested to regulate the climate; and how much land should be used as regional Wood economies in which humans would obtain all of their resources. If the humans living in a regional Wood economy decide to consume all of their Wood resources in an orgy of consumption only to find that in the following year they had nothing left on which to survive then they would starve - if other regional economies decided they did not want to help such profligate shits. If humans will not respect the Earth and live within its limitations they have no right to live on Earth. They should go and live on an infinitely expanding Planet which could cope with their incessant demands for more and more trash.
