*     LIBRARY

               Library plays a major role in the academic life of a University. The fundamental role of the library being educational it should not be operated as a mere store-house of books, but as a dynamic instrument of education. The central library of the University is being organized on these lines. The library collections support not only every course in the curriculum, but also include selected stock of general material of books, periodicals, publications, news papers etc. Most of the Departments have their own departmental libraries situated in their own buildings. The total number of books in the Central and Departmental Libraries upto June, 1999 was 1,05,000. The administration of the Library is vested in the Library Committee which is responsible for efficient management of the Library.

               The facilities of a Book Bank are also available to the University students who can procure Text/Reference books from the Book Bank at a very reasonable rate (10% of the Book price) and retain the book(s) for a period of one year

*     STUDY TOURS

               Student tours comprise the main part of the University’s co-curricular activities. Each student may participate at least once in a study tour arranged by the concerned Teaching Department during his stay at the University, Such tours are primarily financed by the students and supplemented to a reasonable extent, by the University.

*     ACCOMMODATION

               The University, at present has four hostels for boys and three hostels for girls at the Campus. In all the hostels, the residents are provided with all the necessary facilities. The mess is run by students. The Teaching Departments have been allocated a certain number of seats in the Hostel which are filled on the recommendation of the Chairmen of respective departments. The students, desirous of staying in the Hostels, are, therefore, advised to submit their applications, in quadruplicate, to the office of the Wardens of the Hostels through the Chairman of their Department.

*     MEDICAL

               Consultation and advisory health services are available for the students. A reasonably equipped dispensary, looked after by two doctors and assisted by qualified staff, exists at the Campus- Complicated cases are referred to the specialists in the Nishtar Hospital, Multan. Ambulance service is also available to move the patients in case of emergency.

*     TRANSPORT

               Since the Campus is about ten kilometers away from the City, the University has its own arrangement for traveling to the city and back. A fleet of sixteen buses and two coasters plies between the Campus and the City according to the schedule announced from time to time by the Transport Committee. The working/operation of the Transport Section is looked after by the Transport Officer and Chairman, Transport Committee.

*     SPORTS

               The University organizes regular activities in a number of sports and games. It also arranges Inter-Collegiate matches in Athletics, Football, Hockey, Volley Ball, Cricket, Squash, Badminton, Tennis, Wrestling, Table Tennis, Rowing, Basket Ball and Swimming. The University also participates in Inter-University sports competitions and in provincial and national tournaments. The Sports Complex of the University is situated behind the Abu Bakar Hall.
               Separate sports facilities exist for girls. The University organizes Inter-Collegiate sports for girls in Athletics, Net-Ball, Badminton, Hockey, Tennis, Volley ball, Basket Ball and Table Tennis.                The sports activities are looked after by the Director of Sports and chairman of the Bahauddin Zakariya University Sports Tournament Committee (BZUSTC). The BZUSTC also regulates Inter-Collegiate sports activities.

*     PLACEMENT BUREAU

               The Bureau, functioning under a senior teacher as Director, promotes cooperation between the employment agencies and the University It contacts various business organizations and government agencies and elicits their help and cooperation in the placement of students. This help may also take the form of financial assistance to poor and deserving students for which philanthropists may also be approached. In return, the University provides technical assistance to these organizations or individuals in solving their developmental and operational problems, During the long vacation, the Bureau arranges for the practical training of desirous students in Industry, Public Corporations and Government Department.
