heart quilt with silk ribbon embroidery The center of this quilt is a piece of ecru moiré. I traced the heart shape then divided it with laces and embroidery. The outside edge is 2 sizes of ribbon couched in place. The embroidery is embellished with buttons and charms. Each section has a special meaning. A charm from a necklace was a gift from my husband when we were first married. There is a heart locket from my Mom and a part from an earring from my Mother-in-law. Forget-me-nots are for my Dad, while a blue bird is for my Father-in-law. A delicate butterfly earring charm was a gift from my niece and nephew when they were small. Silk ribbon iris are for my brother who loves them and roses are for my sister-in-law. A willow tree is for the house I grew up in, violets are for our last house, and the squirrel is for the house I live in now. We always have trouble with squirrels in our attic. Some of the buttons were a gift from a neighbor. After sewing the borders to the main piece, I did more silk ribbon embroidery roses and vines in each corner.
quilt made from Mumm fabrics I bought a yard of Debbie Mumm border fabric but wasn't sure what to do with it. This quilt is just stripes of each row sewn together, with a wide section used for the center. It's embellished with large buttons and prairie points
sunflower cross stitched quilt I found this cross stitch picture and knew it would be perfect for my kitchen. After I finished it I was lucky to find these fabrics for the borders. They matched perfectly!
chatelaine I made this chatelaine after joining my local quilt guild. If you look closely, you can see a section with the doves and Beaver Valley Piecemakers on it. This chatelaine is covered with my guild pins and a few others I've collected. There are 4 pockets, each with a different design. On one of the bottom pockets is a crocheted thimble holder.
