Those placings were awsome! I had only ridden Avatar twice before the show and haven't been jumping much. Luckily, she's the pony you hate to be against , point and go over fences, cute, and push button. She even does her flying lead changes practically automaticly! (shhhh!) Anyway, there were at least 11 people against me jumping and 12 on the flat, so there you go. The courses were simple, 2 outside lines (2) each 6 strides and a single on one diagonal. I had lots on fun and the ribbons and mug definately helped :o) If you plan on visiting or competing in any of the SSHC shows, I'm in Hunter Ring 1 and my classes are around 11 o'clock, but we have kids showing all day in Hunter Rings 1 and 2, and the Equitation-Jumper Ring.

#?? SSHC some kind of Pony Hunter Under Saddle Class  -  3rd place

It was raining the entire day! (Well ended up being 11 days straight! -before, after, and including Sunday). The Under saddle class I just went in to get V some points. So I missed my warm ups, but I didn't care. My first course she was just going too slow and took too long to get her changes. My second course was awsome (obviously). I won a big glass/crystal bowl this time. In equ on the flat she wouldn't canter right off the first way, but I don't think the judge saw because I was in the middle and Mr. Judge in my nice warm, dry, truck had foggy windows. Pleasure I lost because she broke in front of the judge from the canter.

Those placings were pretty good. I didn't think I rode well, but I guess I did. I would've won 150 again, but my friend was riding our instructor's TB and beat me. All I had to do was go a little faster and stay with her over one jump which I didn't. Oh well, there's always next time :-) I did better in my first class though. Plus I had a fever in the morning, it was 85 degrees, and the pony and I were tired. The jump courses were different than usual too. This time there were 2 diagonal lines (uneven) that were 6 strides, with a single on either side on the rail.

I didn't think those were too good (except pleasure) because I'm missing next month's show and I wanted to at least get second in all my classes! Well my jumping didn't go well, V was tired and I couldn't get her going so in turn we didn't get our flying lead changes and I forgot to stay out. I did better with my crest releases though. My equ flat class was also disasterous, I couldn't get V to canter for a while both ways, and my trainer said I wasn't sitting up. Pleasure however was fun. I got to loop the rein, put my hands up her neck more, and get out of her way. She didn't try to stop at the gate either J. I sat forward a bit more at the trot and my leg stretched down so she went nice and forward. Her canter was a lot better and I got it faster, I rode in halfseat too. Also in both classes V stood in line without moving an inch! She usually walks and backs and turns with me.

I didn't jump well at all as you can see from my placings. I was having a very off jumping day :o). But my flat classes went okay. I forgot to drop my stirrups down a hole and they were short to start with, oops J

I was 1 point away from getting champion in over fences (!), but the boy who won (Matt Barnes) is really awesome, so it's not a big deal J I don't quite understand how I went from being 1st in pleasure for 3 or 4 months to second with the girl ahead of me (Mai Mehegan) having apparently won every show. Hmm well probably a computer error.

The banquet (2/6/99) was so fun! My ribbons are 7 inches wide (the rosetta) and over 3ft long! The champion awards were great, some examples were a drawing of your horse, airbrushed director's chairs (with SSHC Grand Champion, or Year End Champion written on it with the option of your and/or your horse's name and a likeness of your horse), coolers, and things from Reed and Barton. Overall High Point Riders and Medal winners recieved things ranging from enormous trophies, to a tack trunk, to 1 year free use of a trailer from Yered Trailers, to a Crosby saddle! 2 raffles went on, one for actually things like a bridle and grooming kit, and gift certificates, and another one where the winner one half the raffle money ($333)!! The food was great (not to mention the chocolate mouse!) and after the awards they had a lot of dancing, but I had to leave (my barn left right after awards). My mother went picture happy so I have a lot of pictures of myself and my friends (mostly a bunch of the same picture). When I recieved my awards a lady took our (champ, reserve, 3rd, and 4th place winners) picture each time. I don't know what happens to those pictures though (some were put into the Horsemen's Yankee Pedlar). I can't wait for next year! J
