It was definately an "exciting" show. It was raining off and on and started 45 minutes late due to missing judges' cards. There were a number of falls and runnaway horses (including a runnaway dog!) to keep things interesting. So, I warmed up pretty well for pleasure, my stirrups were uneven unbeknownst to me (until I was waiting at the ingate) so that's probably one reason I couldn't sit the trot. In the first pleasure class I lost a stirrup, then later Jeff spooked in a corner while trotting and cantered off for a few strides before I could get him back, and then I picked up the wrong lead. In the second class he was very good. A lot of horses were acting up and in both classes one girl kept cutting us off! - very dangerously. Jeff of course reacted to the other horses twice, but it wasn't his fault and he went right back to working nicely off a loose rein, so I think the judge liked that; there were 14 people in those classes. My friend Sara jumped him for me at this show. The Novice undersaddle went fairly well. I felt extremely "loose" and figured I wouldn't place but I was wrong! Jeff was a good boy of course. There were a lot of people in that class, I'm not sure how many but 14 or more. In Maiden equ number one, Jeff was getting ansy and was tuning me out a bit, and number two I picked up the wrong lead and was staring at it but wasn't sure so I didn't change it and then got stuck behind a girl on a horse who was acting up. In Limit again I had wrong leads (I was making an effort to get the correct one) and someone's horse almost jumped into us very nearly sending us over a jump! Right next to the judge of course, and guess what? I picked up the wrong lead when I resumed my canter. Go figure. Jeff was tired by then and probably needed a drink, next show he'll be better because he won't be getting ridden around for an extra 45min waiting for the show to start!

This show was really fun despite the heat! (It was about 90 degrees.) I spent the first few hours on the grounds getting kids water and food and helping out. Then I rode in my under saddle class which had 14 riders in it. Jeff was really good, but was leaning in at the canter. We probably would have placed higher but they asked us to back in the line up, which you aren't supposed to do in u/s classes. I did a few warm up jumps in the warm up area. The crossrails class went alright but after the diagonal single I thought I missed the lead change and didn't rebalance in time to make the turn to the next jump, which he didn't see, but he did pop over and canter away from (good boy :)). The 1st 2' class was the same course as the crossrails -outside line, outside line, diagonal single, outside line - and it rode a little better; I think we chipped a jump. The 3rd class was going pretty well but after the lead change I totally lost my balance and almost fell off to the outside, so I had to circle and go back to the walk and then resume (unphased!). So that's why I didn't place in that. I had fun though. The heat made it very tiring. Jeff did really well with his 2 other riders as well!

My first 2 classes had 22 people in them but they left the jumps up and did not split the class. In the first one as we cantered around, en mass, half the class ended up crowding around me (I had not cut across the ring because I was alright until a bunch came up from behind), Jeff did not like that so he kept shying and finally shied really hard to the left and I fell off to the right. So that ended that class. The second was going really well but I couldn't hear the ring steward say "canter" so that ended that one for me. The Classic went well. I and the girl in front of me didn't hear the steward say "halt" at the end, otherwise I would have placed higher. Oh well - I still won half my entry fee for the class. Sara's first course wasn't smooth at all, but her second was great! She even had an amazing trot at the end of her curtiousy circle, but there was tough competition. The u/s had 17 people in it. It went pretty well, Jeff was a little too slow apparently. I shouldn't have entered equitation at this show. By the time my class rolled around I felt light headed (it got really hot out which I didn't anticipate) and tired as well as hungry. My canter transitions.... well let's not talk about those :) I determined it really is too long of a day for me to do equitation in addition to everything else.

This show went pretty well. The judge loved a pinto in my classes, but she seemed to like Jeff as well. The first class went well, there were 10 people in pleasure so it wasn't a mob this time and Jeff stayed very calm, but I had one less than stellar canter transition (up). The second class wasn't as good. A couple of horses got too close to Jeff at the trot and canter so he did a head shake "I want to buck" thing and I think he may have half heartedly kicked out, but I wasn't sure. I also had an awful canter transition across from the judge from the trot. (But before hand I had a very nice one...). In the u/s class I managed to rush my 2nd transition and pick up the wrong lead which I had to switch with a simple change in front of the judge. I had the wrong diagonal for a few strides in either the 2nd or 3rd class, I don't remember. :) Sara had some nice courses with him. I didn't enter equitation at this show because I decided it was too long of a day for me.

This was a great show, the rain held off and the sky even started to clear up by my last class. I did the jumping warm ups before the show and had a blast; Jeff's awesome. The first class was going terrificly, I thought I'd place pretty high, and while cantering by the judge he started to stretch down to the bit so I figured I'd give him some rein and let him stretch out (to show him off) but I didn't half halt and he broke! oops!! In the second class someone's horse almost ran into us so he freaked but recovered just fine. I couldn't hear the paddock master again! so I didn't hear her say halt but apparently I did halt before a few other people. The pleasure classes had 12 in them I think. The under saddle went great. I think if I could've gotten him to stretch down we would have won!

This was a bit of an "off" show for me. My warm up was good, but I felt very loose in my classes. In my second hunter pleasure class a girl cut me off at the canter right in front of the judge, so Jeff broke, then picked up the wrong lead and wouldn't come back (another boy had the same problem earlier... go figure), but I did fix it. I hate it when people do that. This was the first time this season I rode in my o/f classes. Jeff was great. I didn't really have my weight in my heels though. I thought I had a chance in the u/s but there were 11 other nice horses in it; if I could have gotten him in more of a frame it may have helped. I had a really nice, round walk-canter transition though, or was that in my pleasure class? :-) As of July I was 4th for hunter pleasure and 1st (huge lead) in Novice hunter.

I forgot to update this after the show and I don't really remember the show since it is now November 13th!! But I was kinda "loose" in the pleasures and there were 10 people in those classes. I jumped in the first fences class, after looking at the pictures I apparently wasn't folding over the jumps - oops! My instructor did the second class because she was going to jump Jeff in 3' later (he did awesome!!) and wanted to make sure he had a good course, plus I felt ill :) Under saddle had 14 people in it and I couldn't get Jeff to stretch down so that was that. I don't remember if I had any transition problems.
