<> That show went past 8 o'clock at night! There were 13 people in my Jr. L/S equitation classes and 9 in my Adult & Junior L/S hunter classes. My first course in equ. was perfect, but my instructor told me the wrong second course! I should've said something but I didn't, word to the wise -*always* double check! J
The judge apparently saw me pick up the wrong lead in my equ flat class, and I should've gone a little faster in pleasure. The hunter classes were fun. Jeff (Varsity Blues) had so much energy -he wanted to gallop! Must've been the cool air and the break he had. I messed up two lines in the first course because first I was probably not thinking of his (new) rythem, and then I went in too slow. The second course I managed to loose my stirrups so the judge must've really liked Jeff! ;-) The under saddle was fun, it was also the last class of the day and I'm not sure if it was placed different or not from the jumping.<>
June 27th -South Shore Horseman's Council
<> It was about 96 degrees Farenheight out today! Add to that the fact SSHC is held in a wide open field with no shade! Although there was a breeze. It was very very hot out. Some of us sat under a small canopy tent that East West Riders had put out J
My friends from MHS, Anna and John, came to video tape me and take some pictures -I watched the tape twice after the show -it's really neat seeing yourself ride! Anyway, in my first course I was going too slow. In my second Jeff was cross-cantering before the last jump and I didn't want to mess him up in front of the jump so I just held him steady. That was good enough apparently since I won J
My instructor said I should've fixed it to show them I knew it wasn't the correct lead... The equ flat class went well, but in pleasure as we cantered around Jeff started trotting! Right when he was opposite the judge! Oh well. There were about 11 kids in my classes so the judge had us canter in two groups. I also found out that the classes are "A" rated! For the Championship trophy I won a glass mug with pewter horse heads on it, it's a little different from the one I won last year.
<> My ride was at 8:30am. My warm up was awesome, Misty was on the bit! thanks to my instructor who came to coach us J
I didn't have time to show her around though and they put us in the indoor! It has mirrors to top it off. Misty was tense and either had her head up or was shaking it the whole time! She neighed forever while I was walking and trotting around and even neighed at herself in the mirror J
Our free walk was the best part of the test J
My figures were all correct, but I was nervous and the pony was tense. Too bad we weren't outside (they had 4 empty rings!) because we would've done so much better! My instructor rode her after in the big field. After a long time she got Misty on the bit and round and bending in the trot, then went in half seat, gave her the rein, and cantered around the whole thing. Misty was having a ball! J
My instructor says she'll be awesome once she's trained and figures out what to do with herself! J
<> Another extremely hot and humid day!! There were 2 other big shows going on (plus people are at camp and on vacation), so my classes only had 5 people in them. My warm up was perfect except for a chip. In my first class I missed my two lead changes, in the second I got the one I needed (right before the curtiousy circle) and my barn clapped *G.* After waiting around a while I had my flat class. I guess my stirrups were a hole to long -odd since they were fine for jumping and that's how long I always ride. Plus I wasn't really in equ class mode J
I was thinking more about the horse since I'm used to schooling Misty! For pleasure we put my stirrups up one, which really made me more balanced -and helped because you canter in half seat in pleasure class! That went very well -obviously J
I've never won a pleasure class at SSHC before! (Jeff also went on to win his two hunter o/f, get third in the hunter u/s and champion for the Long Stirrup Hunter division with Nichole Micheroni!!)
August 15th -South Shore Horseman's Council
<> Not much to say about this show. There were only 5 people in JLS again. It was around 60-70 degrees out and cloudy, but the rain stopped by afternoon. I won a bridle bag that matches the helmet bag I won last time (green w/navy trim) -made by Tally Ho. I'm in second place for equitation over fences (year end) -not including this show's points.
September 12th -South Shore Horseman's Council
<> The weather was pretty good for once! My first course was pretty good, even though I've ridden better, but I missed my last lead change. During my second course (which was going great) I got ahead of Jeff and fell on his neck over a jump! (Was complimented on my good recovery by some friends though). Then of course I missed the lead change after that line. Since there were 8 people in my classes I didn't place. Equ on the flat and pleasure were about the same. Snappier canter departures would've helped. I think Jeff was getting tired -I was since I had a cold!
<> My ride was at 11:45am. It rained all day!! My instructor warmed Jeff up first to make sure he wasn't too fresh and then I got on 15min before my test. I got him really moving into the bridle well in a nice round frame. He was really distracted when we started trotting around the ring (so much for the experienced eventer!) and he ended up being above the bridle the whole test! We got two 4's, two 6's, and the rest were fives, and because I don't have a dressage instructor I misinterpreted a movement (where to stop trotting) and got an error (-2pts). So my total score ended up being a 48.636% That's alright though. I had some really awesome momments at home and in warm up, so I just have to put it together for next time. My instructor did the same test with him later and got a 55% (6th), she also got a 61% with Image and won the class!
November 7th -Beland Stables Schooling Show
<> My ride was at 12:58pm. It was very cold and windy out, but at least it was sunny. My instructor rode him first and the judge, Jane Ashley, said he had to go more forward (she actually gave comments -useful ones too!). So I rode and Ms. Ashley said I was moving nicely forward. I fudged up the test, but at least I was confident and gave a good ride. I got a 51.818% (one error, the other mistakes just resulted in 5 for the movement). My instructor got 5th with Jeff and 2nd with Image this time. My class (JR) had only 3 people in it!
