Chapter Two

By Jasmine

Jasmine shook her head, her light brown hair framing her features. She wasn't allowed to have a crush on him. He was her bestest best friend, more like a brother. But try as she might she couldn't explain it. That familiar grin alighted something within her. She tried to think back, think of when they crossed the line to being that little something extra, that little something that ends being just friends and you can't go back to. But try as she might, she couldn't. She had known Ben since she was little, still basically in a cradle. But she couldn't remember the change that happened.
"And you know, personally, I love that song." Jasmine added, making Ben feel special about himself. But it was true, it was one of her favourites. She shrugged. "If you two leave, there'll be hardly any North And South. Can you have a band like that with only a couple of members?"
"I know. But I feel I can go so much further."
"Yeah," Mark added. "That band is holding back our abilities. We are more than capable of doing so much better."
Mark was Jasmine's next best friend, after Ben. She grinned at him.
"Well, as long as you guys think you are making the right choice."
"Oh, I think we are. In fact I KNOW we are." Ben beamed down at her. Jasmine couldn't help but stare. He seemed to notice her gaze and raised an eyebrow in questioning, his left eye half-hidden beneath hair that was exactly the same colour as Jasmine's. Sapphire matched sapphire as he returned her curious gaze. Finally Jasmine broke away, blushing.
"Right. Now you're no longer in a band, you have time to sing me a song." Jasmine grinned. Ben groaned. They all knew which song she wanted them to sing. It was after all her favourite.
"Let's just buy a rose and compare you with it and get it over and down with." Mark said with a smile on his face.
"No. Your voices are like heaven on earth. More like angels than roses." Jasmine replied. Ben shook his head.
"This is getting worse and worse each time I hear it." He muttered out loud.

Paul watched as May left. His gaze was captivated. Who could believe that this was his cousin's friend from all those years ago? He shook his head and turned to Francis.
"You mean...that...that was MAY?"
Frances nodded and Paul stood speechless, unable to take away the breathtaking vision that had just minutes ago stood before him. Frances grinned at him with her wierd way when she knew something was going on.
"Admit it. You like her."
Paul turned to her annoyed.
"I do not!"
But his grin gave away all he didn't say.
