Chapter Two

I burst into the room, my face glowing with excitement.
“Come on, Julz, no time for lazing about! We have to pack!”
She groaned, her arm flopping over her forehead. I crossed my arms.
“Come on. Give me a break. We’ve only just got home from school!” I scowled.
Why was she being so difficult?
“So?” I implored before sitting down on the end of her bed. I smiled and she looked at me suspiciously. “Mark will be there.”
“So will Christian and does that make me jump for joy?”
I thought for a second.
“And knowing them, Ben and Paul will be there too.” She sat up.
I knew that Paul was closer to her than any friends could ever be. He was like a brother. I smirked at the thought of Ben. Ben wasn’t that bad looking either but he was kind of hard to get at, being the hot topic for every girl. He had a heavenly voice though and I could remember the songs we had sung around the campfire at our last camp. Ben and I had done a duet and, I had to admit, we hadn’t sounded half-bad. Julie sat up.
“Come on then.” She said.

Jasmine followed me around the room as I packed. Finally I stopped, my features displaying annoyance. As much as I hated to admit it my sister was beginning to get on my nerves.
“Don’t you need to get packed?” I asked sweetly. She just grinned.
“Been there. Done that. You’re too slow.” I shook my head.
Really, she was unbelievable. Just mention the word Christian and just like that she’s ready. I grinned, and somehow Mark wandered into my mind, his face softly lit up by the glow of a campfire. I pushed it to the back of my head and told myself off mentally for even thinking of him like that. A car horn emitted through the air and I hurriedly grabbed my bags. They were here.

I drove my dark blue station wagon up to the girls’ house and parked it carefully. I had just about had enough of Mark and his smart-alec comments from the passenger seat, and I could tell from the looks on Ben and Paul’s faces that they had too. I told the two in the back to squash up and I literally threw Mark over. I leaned on the horn and soon the two girls were racing out of the house. I laughed as Jasmine ran ahead. She looked so gorgeous when she was running. An alarm rang in my head. I was taken, remember? But, still…I shook his head as Jasmine’s voice rang through my ears.
“I’m first here so I get the front seat!” Mark laughed.
“If there’s no room there you could always sit on my knee!” he joked.
Jasmine screwed her face up in disgust and Ben nudged him from his space.
“Try again, mate” he laughed.
Mark sighed before looking at the house. I looked in the rear view mirror as Julie captivated his gaze. I glanced at Jasmine.
“Looks like someone’s got it bad over your sister there.” She twisted around, and my eyes devoured her every movement.

“Why don’t you ask her out?” I snapped out of my trance and looked at Jasmine curiously.
“Me? Ask her out? Ha! That’s a laugh!”
“Ha ha.” Said Ben sarcastically.
I stared back at Julie as she chucked her bags in the boot and then opened the door. She slid neatly into the place beside me and my heart fluttered as her arm brushed mine. I was conscious of how close to me she was, so close I could smell her perfume.
“Hi,” I said, wondering why my mouth wouldn’t move properly.
