*Jasmine*
I awoke the next morning and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. God, I was still so tired! I shouldn't have stayed up so long talking to Christian. But then again, I would do it again if I had the chance, just sit and talk about anything we could think of. I settled onto my other side to look at him. He was breathing in and out steadily, his eyes shut. He looked so vulnerable when he was asleep. I couldn't resist. After all, he was asleep; he wouldn't know a thing. I reached over and pushed a strand of his blonde hair behind one ear. I smiled then went to sit up. Something heavy weighted me down. I pulled back the duvet to see Christian's arm around me. I couldn't help but smile again as I lay back down. I wasn't about to spoil this precious moment. Still, my thoughts were worried as I thought about his girlfriend, Leslie, back home. What would she think if she saw us like this? I yawned and felt myself falling back to sleep again.
*Christian*
I smiled as I heard Jasmine's gentle breathing become steadier and I knew she had fallen asleep again. I touched the place where her hand had brushed my forehead, grinning madly. She must have thought I was asleep otherwise I know she never would have had the courage to do that. I wondered just how much she liked me. I inched closer to her, drawing my arms around her tighter, being more daring and brave. I closed my eyes again when I heard the door burst open. I leapt up, defending myself. I noticed I was still only in my boxers and blushed profusely.
"Ohhhhh, looks like the lovebirds got snapped." Mark taunted.
"Wha..." Jasmine mumbled in her sleep before rolling over. I threw a pillow at Mark, frowning.
"Shhh, you'll wake her up!" I whispered harshly. Mark merely lifted an eyebrow.
"What did you do to her last night to make her that tired?" he said.
"Talking."
"Whatever."
"Oh, grow up, Mark. When will you stop thinking about sex all the time? Or is that impossible?"
"MARK!!!" The scream scared them all and made them jump. I looked at Mark with a look of worry creasing my brow.
*Mark*
Julie's scream sounded desperate. I sprinted down the hallway and burst into the room. Julie was cowering in a corner, her face white with terror. A rattlesnake lay at the other end of the room and was advancing on Julie. She screamed again. The snake reared its head, as if to strike. I thought quickly and raced over to Julie, pulling her out of the way as the snake struck where Julie was just a second before. I lead her out of the room, my arms clutching her tightly, and was consciously aware of the way her body pressed against mine. I slammed the door to the room shut and leaned against it, panting heavily and thinking about the fake one I had jammed into her locker just the day before.
"God, you scared me for a second there."
I found myself looking into her eyes and falling into the depths of them. There was no other explanation, I was in love.
*Julie*
I pressed against Mark, glad for his support, as my legs didn't seem to work. The snake had me dead scared there for a moment. I saw Jasmine stumbling sleepily out of the room her and Christian were sharing. My heart beat faster as Mark looked at me. He was so gorgeous when he'd just woken up in the morning! Though most people were turned off by the mussed hair and weariness of just waking up, it did just the opposite to me. Jasmine threw her arms around me, hugging me.
"Are you okay?"
I nodded shakily, reassuring both Jasmine and myself.
*Ben*
I ran into the hallway at the scream to see everyone in boxers and T-shirts. I laughed, looking down at myself, fully clothed. I had always been a morning person and had been up before anyone else. Paul was still asleep, having chatted away for most of the night. I glanced at Jasmine.
"You look half asleep?"
"I am. It's only..." she looked at her watch through half-closed eyes. "Six fifteen."
She yawned and I looked at Christian.
"I'd better take her back to bed." he said, grabbing her arm and steering her in that general direction. I glanced at Mark and Julie, still clinging onto each other desperately.
"Are you two going back to bed as well?" he asked. "Or are you going to stand there and hold each other like you two are together as boyfriend and girlfriend?"
Julie got embarrassed and let go.
"We can't go back in there!" Mark said, his face horror-stricken. "There's a snake in there!"
I sighed. Did I have to do everything around here? I went outside and got a forked stick and a sack. I opened the door, smiled at Mark, and placed the fork over the head of the snake then, grabbing the tail; I hastily shoved it into the sack before taking it outside. I closed the front door wearily.
"Back to bed now?"
Julie shook her head.
"I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep in that room."
"Then there's only one thing..."
"What?"
I winked at her.
"We all hop into Christian and Jasmine's bed!"
