See the 1999 Christmas Vacation Page. ![]() (age: 5 years, 10 months, 19 days) News Flash!!! Nicole has lost her second tooth! Witnesses today stated that Nicole Davis, while eating her breakfast bagel, experienced the loss of one of her lower baby teeth. The second in as many months. Blood loss was kept to a minimum by a quick thinking mother who had her rinse at the kitchen sink. Nicole is said to be in good spirits and quite relieved that she won't have to rinse in the school nurses office as with her first tooth. Needless to say, Nicole's food will have to be cut smaller for a while. But we are assured that this disability will not stop her. © 2000 The Doug Davis News Nicole got the furby in this picture from her Oma for Christmas. 01/20/2000, Thursday - Talented & Gifted, So Many Questions (age: 5 years, 11 months, 2 days) Nicole's teacher has encouraged us to recommend Nicole for the school's talented and gifted program. Tina and I have been working on the form for a week or so now. The questions are pretty hard for parents. We must evaluate her abilities and give examples. I thing we need to be talented & gifted to fill out the form. The teacher is also doing a recommendation and there will be some tests Nicole will have to do well in to get in. We'll know sometime this summer if she's in it for next year. Nicole is quite inquizative. Here are some of the questions she asked in just one day: "How do you make petrified wood?", "How do newspaper people know about clouds?", "How do you make Jell-O with stuff that floats in it?" and "How do weathermen know what the weather will be like tomorrow?" ![]() (age: 5 years, 11 months, 7 days) We've been redecorating Nicole's room. She's a school age girl now, so we've got her desk all set up and put together a large new cabinet to put everything away neatly. Tina is redoing her bed area, making a canope and everything. It's fun to do and Nicole seems to really like it. 01/31/2000, Monday - Reading Well (age: 5 years, 11 months, 13 days) I watched Nicole read a book yesterday. It wasn't a very easy book and I helped her with a few words. But I was amazed at the word I didn't have to help her with. One word that I poised to help her with she zipped passed like she read it every day. The word was appetite. Neither Tina nor I have ever seen her run across that word before so we were amazed that she read it like it was natural. I finished the canope hardware over Nicole's bed yesterday. Tina has the material draped, but has some more work to finish fixing it up. It's going to look really snazzy. |
