Galveston Vacation

9/03/1999, Friday - Singing.
(age: 2 years, 9 months, 14 days)
Christopher's first day of preschool (8/23/1999)Christopher likes music in school. Last night it was getting dark and he looked out the window and saw a star (street lamp, actually). He then started singing "Twinkle, Twinkle". It was very cute. He then told me he sings that at school.

9/07/1999, Tuesday - Allergies.
(age: 2 years, 9 months, 18 days)
I took Christopher to the doctor on Saturday. He's been rubbing his nose a lot and sneezed yellow stuff on Friday, so we thought we should check it out. Come to find out, he has allergies. The doctor gave us a Flonase nasal spray to try and it seems to be working.

Christopher really enjoyed yesterday's church party. He played on everything except the obstacle course, which is too big for him. Read more about it in Nicole's journal.

9/09/1999, Thursday - Bedtime Tricks.
(age: 2 years, 9 months, 20 days)
Christopher has really become the master of avoiding going to bed. Here are some of the excuses he has for either getting up or keeping us in the room.

Kicks his feet until his blanket wriggles up, then says "My feet came out"
I have to go potty (can't refuse him because we want to encourage this).
I'm hungry (we've started bedtime snacks because he never eats supper well).
I'm out of water (we give him a sippy cup for his bed)
Look, here's a bug bite
My blanket's crooked
I heard a noise

I'm sure there are more, but those are the main ones.

9/14/1999, Tuesday - Tired Boy, Talking, Tape.
(age: 2 years, 9 months, 25 days)
While Nicole was at the cheerleader camp last Saturday, we took Christopher to a restaurant for lunch. He was worn out and fell asleep in the van on the way there. He didn't even wake up when I took him out at the restaurant. So I put him on my shoulder and he slept there while we ate (a bit tricky). I enjoyed every minute of it. It's been a long time since he slept on my shoulder like that and I know it won't happen much more. I try to enjoy every minute of the kids as they grow.

Christopher is a very good talker. Much like his sister was (is). Right now my favorite word that he uses is "actually". It may be hard to imagine, but it sounds so funny and extra mature when coming from a two year old. He'll say things like "I did ..this.. today. <pause> Actually, I did ..that.."

Christopher is also enjoying scotch tape right now. He knows where we keep it in the office desk, so if he need some, he goes to get it himself. Yesterday a toy got broken somehow. Later, Tina found a huge wad of tape in his room. He was trying to fix the toy. To him, tape is the answer to every problem.

9/20/1999, Monday - New "Ballie" Game.
(age: 2 years, 10 months, 0 days)
Christopher's latest fun includes putting balls up the front of his shirt. The bigger the better. He'll stick one in his shirt, then lay down on the ball and roll around. He calls it "playing ballie". One day last week I came home and his shirt was all stretched out. He was playing in the back yard when Tina caught him trying to shove our largest ball up his shirt. It's the kind that has a handle on it that you sit on and bounce around. The thing is at least two feet in diameter! When I picked him up from Sunday School yesterday he was walking around with a teddy bear under his shirt.

9/28/1999, Tuesday - Precious Jesus. (cute quote)
(age: 2 years, 10 months, 8 days)
Christopher is growing up pretty fast. And he's using longer sentences and starting to surprise us. The other day Tina was with him as he said his bedtime prayers. At the end he said "In the precious holy name of Jesus. Amen." Quite a nice sign-off for a two year old!
