02/05/2001, Monday - Sleeping In The Tub. HeLOo!
(age: 4 years, 2 months, 16 days)
Christopher with flowers (2/25/2001)On Friday and Saturday we babysat for some friends who have a boy and girl just Christopher and Nicole's ages. These friends played so hard that by Saturday night everyone was exhausted. We put Christopher in the bath and left him to play for a bit before washing him up. Just a short time later I look in to see how he's doing to find him sound asleep in the tub. He was on his tummy, resting his head in his hands. Tina was quite upset to find this out. I think, though, that had his face fallen into the water, he would have awoken with a start. Nevertheless, it was cute and scary at the same time. We had a hard time waking him up too. When Tina went to wash his hair, he again settled down as if he was going to fall asleep again. Tired boy!

While playing on the swingset on Saturday, Christopher cut a finger. Tina cleaned it up and put a bandaide on. She commented, "It's a good thing we have these Buzz Lightyear stickers." To which Christopher replied, "That's not a sticker. That's a Buzz Lightyear bandaide. HeLOo!" (Imagine his voice rising and falling on the Hello) A bit disrespectful, but humorous too.

Christopher likes to be read to. He is amazingly fast at memorizing. Even fairly new library books he can recite after just a couple readings. Hopefully he'll be as good a reader as Nicole.

Nicole was a bit under the weather Sunday, so I took Christopher to church by myself. He came to the worship service with me for a time and then I took him back to his Sunday School classroom. When we came home, Tina asked him if he had clapped to any of the songs in church. He replied, "No. I was busy hugging my Daddy." Which is true, especially when we were standing. He's getting to be big, but I'm going to pick him up and hold him as much as he'll let me!

02/14/2001, Wednesday - Valentine's Present.
(age: 4 years, 2 months, 25 days)
After dinner Christopher was leaving the table when he told Mom, "I have a Valentine's present for you." Tina tried to dissuade him, telling him it wasn't Valentine's day yet and he should keep it a secret. But he continued toward her as though he were going to whisper in her ear. Instead, though, he gave her a big kiss on her cheek and said, "Happy Valentine's Day". That really made Tina's day.

02/23/2001, Friday - Christopher's Best Funny Friend.
(age: 4 years, 3 months, 3 days)
Christopher told me today that "Shawn is my best funny friend." Shawn is in his class at school. He also says, "Shawn is really funny."

02/27/2001, Tuesday - Sleeping in Church. Computer Games. No More Trains?
(age: 4 years, 3 months, 7 days)
Christopher has has a bit of a cold. It became evident how tired it was making him when Tina went to pick him up from Sunday School. The teacher couldn't find him. His room is based on the wall of Jerico and has a tower in the corner that is a play fort. It turned out he had crawled up there and fell fast asleep.

I found a cheap computer game at the store the other day that's an update on the old Frogger game. It is now Christopher's favorite computer game. I'm amazed at how fast he picks these games up. They are really quite challenging but he does pretty well.

Last Sunday the weather was beautiful. We took the kids out roller blading around the block. It's beens so rainy that we haven't been out much. It was fun.

Tina put Christopher's train table and trains away. We may get them out again, but he hasn't been playing with them much lately. It's kind of sad. Perhaps the end of an era.

03/01/2001, Thursday - Likes Chicken So Well That...
(age: 4 years, 3 months, 9 days)
Last night Christopher told me that he ate some rotisseri chicken for lunch and he loved it. He said, "I ate it and I didn't even throw up on it!" (He's had a stuffy nose that makes him gag, especially around food.)
