Christopher's
Activities:
5/28/98, Thursday
Christopher is now getting into bugs. Yesterday, he came out to the garage
to greet me after work. He ran outside and saw some ants crawling along.
He pointed to them saying "Bug". Earlier yesterday he found an injured butterfly
and was carrying it all over outside. And the other day I was sitting on
the couch when he brought me a dead spider. I don't think he was the one
who killed it.
5/26/98, Tuesday
Christopher is getting over his Chicken Pox. We kept him home from
church on Sunday just in case. The nurse said he shouldn't be contagious,
but shouldn't be around newborns, so we cancelled plans with our friends
yesterday. He fell outside last week and gashed his cheek
pretty good. It's healing, but the bruise is about the size of a quarter
and is beautiful shades of green, yellow, blue and black. It doesn't bother
him.
Christopher is starting to get into letters and words. He'll point to words
in books, etc. and say "A, ee, eye, oo" (something like that). He's also
getting into the computer. He loves "Amy's 123" and "Just Grandma and Me",
which were also two of Nicole's favorites at his age. He'll run into the
computer room yelling "Doggie, Doggie" (Amy).
5/19/98, Tuesday - Chicken
Pox!
Christopher's weekend fever turned into full blown Chicken Pox yesterday.
He was exposed to it last Thursday at his preschool.
Both Tina and Nicole have been vaccinated, but with insurance
change complications, we never got Christopher immunized. He's
getting the immunity the hard way.
5/18/98, Monday - New Quotes, Car
Passengers, Blows his own nose
Christopher seems to be able to mimick most any word now. We gave him a sucker
as a treat one day this weekend and he kept repeating "Mmm, Mmm good".
I guess he's been watching Campbell's soup commercials. This morning he woke
up at 4am and I went in to attend to him. He was very sweet and told me
everything he wanted. He said "chair", pointing to the rocker, so
I sat down. He then said "Waa, Waa", pointing to his sippy cup. I
gave it to him. After drinking a while he said "Eyes", pointing to
an Arthur book (he always calls Arthur "Eyes"). So I read him the book. After
that he was happy and I put him back to bed.
Christopher, as you know, is always playing with cars. He has a real fascination
with putting things into the cars too. Yesterday he had a matchbox car up
on his highchair tray and Tina found a piece of chicken stuffed into its
driver's seat. Another time he was playing with a larger car and two matchbox
cars. He would put the two smaller cars into the big one. Then he couldn't
get them out and he'd yell "Stuck, Stuck!". I'd pull them out and
he'd proceed to put them back in.
Yesterday I was sitting in the livingroom watching Christopher play. Christopher
was sick and Tina and Nicole were at church, so it was just the two of us.
I just watched as he walked over to the end-table by the couch, got a Kleenex,
blew his own nose and took the Kleenex into the kitchen and threw
it away. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. He's not even one
and a half yet.
5/12/98, Tuesday
Christopher has discovered that there is a tire underneath
my pickup truck. And it really fascinates him. It's
pretty funny to see him crawling under the truck to see that
extra tire. It seems he's trying to figure out
what it does.

5/7/98, Thursday -
First Sentence
Christopher spoke his first sentence yesterday. While I changed his diaper,
after coming home from work, he said "Daddy home. Truck!" He repeated
it several times yesterday evening and then again this morning when he woke
up and I hadn't yet left for work. As you know, Christopher is nuts about
cars. In true Christopher form, he also uttered "Truck home!" once
while knocking on the door to the garage.
Christopher is also very good at "please" (pronounced "peas") and
also answers "no" and "yea" to questions. It's really pretty
easy to communicate with him now.
April School Report: "Miss" Dianes Class
The toddlers have had a busy month. The children have enjoyed the Spring
weather and getting to take lots of walks in the stroller. They have especially
enjoyed visiting the Prayer Garden and looking at all the pretty flowers.
During the Easter Unit the children made stain glass Easter Eggs. They loved
hunting for Easter eggs in the water table that was full of Easter grass.
The children enjoyed lots of painting projects during the Farm Unit. They
painted a barn (box) with water and brushes. They also painted with feathers
creating yellow ducks, and they also painted lambs. The children enjoyed
playing with the toy barn and animals, singing "Old McDonald" and other animal
songs. This past week they began painting at the easel. |
