11/30/97, Sunday
In the halls at Church today Christopher would wave to people as they passed and say "Hi".  I'm amazed at how verbal he is becoming.

We wanted to put up a small Christmas tree this year.  We found a talking and singing Christmas tree that costs about the same as a live one of the same size and we thought the kids would get a kick out of it.  Nicole liked it in the store, but is scared to death of it at home.  She runs into her room whenever we turn it on.  Christopher doesn't know what to think, but he does like what goes on top of the tree.  He points to it and yells "Hat, Hat" (it's a Santa hat).

11/26/97, Wednesday
Christopher says "Uh, oh" for the first time today when he drops a toy.

11/21/97, Friday
We had a party for Christopher today with the "play group".  We had lots of kids running around and Christopher got to open lots of presents.  He really likes cars and balls and books.  We had lots of balloons, too.  He loves those.  He calls them "Brrrruu" (roll the B).  Aunt Marla and Uncle Steve sent a package with impeccable timing.  We were in the middle of opening presents when the postman came to the door.

11/20/97, ThursdayHappy First Birthday Christopher
Today is Christopher's first birthday.  Tomorrow is his party, today we just opened some family gifts.  He got a hammering bench from Grandma and Granddad Davis.  He likes to pound on it, but needs to get more dexterity to really hammer the pegs down.  His Oma Cole gave him a "Tickle Me Ernie" doll.  It laughs and vibrates when you tickle his tummy.  Christopher is a little apprehensive (I think because of the vibrating), but he's interested.  He'll use his index finger to push on his tummy, then sit back and watch Ernie go. I won't list all his gifts here.

11/15/97, Saturday
Christopher had his first hair cut today. The biggest change is that his hair was getting long and curly in the back. Now it's nice and trim. Looks good. He did a pretty good job getting the cut. He didn't like the lady working behind him. He kept trying to turn around to see what she was doing.

11/11/97, Tuesday - Favorite Words
Christopher can now say words like "Me", "Ball", "Mama" (of course), "Da" (Daddy), "Ow" (outside), "Iee" (take me over there, that looks very interesting), "Cah" (car).  Barking like a dog is another talent.  He is also learning sign language.  He can now sign "more" to indicate he wants more food.  We're also teaching him "all done" so that he can tell us when he doesn't want more.

11/4/97, Tuesday
Christopher has been working on more teeth. He now has six teeth on top and I believe four on the bottom. He's not walking yet, but he's crawling everywhere. He's now standing up in his crib after naps as well as pulling himself up on furniture around the house. Christopher loves playing outdoors. Even though it's getting dark early, he'll still crawl up to the sliding glass door and pound on the window wanting to go out.
