Christopher's Activities:

5/7/98, Thursday - First Sentence
Christopher spoke his first sentence yesterday. While I changed his diaper, after coming home from work, he said "Daddy home. Truck!" He repeated it several times yesterday evening and then again this morning when he woke up and I hadn't yet left for work. As you know, Christopher is nuts about cars. In true Christopher form, he also uttered "Truck home!" once while knocking on the door to the garage.

Christopher is also very good at "please" (pronounced "peas") and also answers "no" and "yea" to questions. It's really pretty easy to communicate with him now.

4/30/98, Thursday
Christopher's vocabulary is growing so fast.  We can actually ask quite a few questions and get good answers from him.  "Do you want down?"  "Dowww", "Do you want any more ...?", "No" or "Yea!!" with a giggle.  It makes life a little easier to actually be able to ask him what he wants.

4/24/98, Friday
Christopher loves my pickup truck.  When I come home from work he runs to the garage yelling "Tuck, Tuck".  I'm sure he's glad to see me, but he's really glad to see the truck.  Yesterday I let him come into the garage and see the truck.  He likes to touch the tires and stand on the back bumper looking into the bed.  Then as we're walking back to the house he'll pat the minivan and say "Mama's".

4/20/98, Monday - Animal Sounds
On Saturday we took the kids to a park with a lake. There were ducks there that thrilled the kids.  Christopher would yell "Duck, Duck, Quack, Quack" (pronounced "duuk, duuk, kak, kak").  He can say quite a few animal sounds now including "cluck", "caw" and "quack". He can also say "stick", which is something he likes to pick up and play with.

4/14/98, Tuesday - More words, Easter
Christopher had a fun Easter.  The kids had four Easter egg hunts.  I'm sure he didn't know what was going on, but it was fun anyway.

On Sunday I saw Christopher walking into the toy room with a chocolate egg. I asked Tina if he was supposed to be carrying that around. Of course, he was not. I told him to put it back on the kitchen table. I was amazed when he actually took it back and not only put it on the table, but stretched to put it back in the bowl where he got it. I was very proud.

Christopher is really talking up a storm. He loves to color and now says color very well. In fact, like many of his words, he'll chant it over and over. Cuh-la, Cuh-la. He is also learning the names of the colors. He can say "blue" in German. Actually, he's trying to say it in English, but he pronounces it more the German way. He calls the car Grandma and Granddad gave him the "blue car" (It's a blue Mercedes mini-van).

Christopher wore the cutest outfit to church Sunday. A polo shirt with shorts and suspenders. And it was a 4T! Tina thought it would be huge, but as she struggled to pull down the shirt, she realized that it just fit. I'm sure it must be a very small 4T.

4/7/98, Tuesday - Opening a door
Christopher is now very proud that he can crawl up on the couch by himself. He loves being up there and now he doesn't have to wait for one of us to put him there. Tina took him for a hair cut yesterday. He is now sporting a new chili bowl cut that is absolutely adorable (really short around the ears and back, longer on top hanging down to a line where the short part starts). Another of his new abilities includes opening doors. I watched him as he, for the first time, opened Nicole's door all by himself. That's his favorite room to get into. It has books and toys we don't normally let him have, so of course, he wants them. He also likes being with his sister. On Sunday, Nicole and one of her friends was inside and that's why he wanted in.

Our weather has been beautiful, so we've been taking the kids around our large block.  Christopher is amazing. He'll jog all the way around (trying to keep up with Nicole). Nicole didn't even walk clear around the block until after she was two and he's making it around in record time. Nicole also liked to stop and pick flowers, look at rocks, watch the ants, etc. Christopher ignores everything except cars. He jogs from parked car to parked car and stands in awe when a car drives by. Pretty funny.

4/2/98, Thursday
Christopher loves playing with cars (as you know).  One of his favorites now is Nicole's big barbie car.  He stuffs it with toys and drives it around.  One of his favorite places to drive his cars, however, is the window ledges.  The barbie car is too big for the ledge and it makes him very mad.
