3/17/98, Tuesday
Christopher had a big fall last night. Nicole and he were running around the house, giggling and having fun. Christopher came running through the kitchen, bumped up against his high chair, which caused him to stumble and fall the other direction into the corner of a wall. He has a huge bump on his forehead with a cut down the middle of it. He cried for a while and then he took off running again. He's a toddler who thinks he's a track star. Until we put him to bed, Tina and I were worried that he'd fall again. But he didn't seem worried at all.

3/15/98, Sunday - New Teeth
It's confirmed.  Christopher now has two new molars.  One on each side of his bottom jaw.

We took Christopher to the airport this morning to send Grandma and Granddad off.  He loved all the vehicles and also loved running full bore in the wide hall ways.

3/11/98, Wednesday
You should have seen Christopher waving good bye to me when I left for work this morning.  His wave is cute anyway.  He uses just his fingers.  As I backed my truck past the van (it was blocking his view) I saw him waving, then he saw me and got the biggest smile.  It makes a father's heart melt.

As you know, Christopher loves cars.  When anyone heads for the door into the garage, he'll follow and want to go out.  When he gets into the garage, he'll go over and "caress" one of the van's wheels.  If we don't let him out, he'll throw a fit.  We're slowly teaching him that doing that is not acceptable behavior.

Grandma and Granddad Davis are visiting.  They are wonderful with the kids.  It's too bad they live so far away (1000 miles).

3/4/98, Wednesday - Words & Songs
Words Christopher can say:  book, "car book", bike, truck, car, bus, bug, cow, dog, cat, flower (pointing to Nicole's dress), bottle, bee, bye (while waving),  elbow, eye, hi, open, Nicole.  He usually pronounces just the first, or the first and last syllables of the word.  You can understand the words best when he's pointing to the related object.

Songs Christopher can sing:  Wheels on the Bus (does the hand motions, really cute).  This little light of mine (loves to blow out the light).  The VeggieTale Theme (does the "ever, ever" part of "There's never, ever, ever ,ever ,ever been a show like...")

Christopher loves to babble now.  He'll go on and on.  It really sounds like he's making sentences.

2/24/98, Tuesday
Christopher is growing like lightning. He's fully into 2T clothing and Tina  (Mommy) even dresses him in 3T's occasionally. Christopher is also moving pretty good these days. He's learning how to run and he's fearless. Unlike Nicole at his age, we really have to watch him because he'll head off for the street or the stair case, or anywhere. He's sporting the usual toddler bruises now that he's more mobile.

Christopher and Nicole like to play chase.  Usually Nicole runs and Christopher chases.  The other night, however, Christopher lost his balance and fell against the corner of a wall.  He now has a big bump on the side of his head.  He's a real trooper, though.  He's already back chasing Nicole.

Christopher is even more interested in books these days.  We read to him before bed, and he keeps pointing to the next book, never wanting to stop.  Some words he's starting to get good at are book, bug and bird.  He likes words that start with 'B'.  And, of course, anything that starts with 'car'.

2/17/98, Tuesday - Sign Language
We went to Planet Pizza for Nicole's birthday tonight.  Christopher rode on the bumper cars with Mommy, but he cried when we tried to put him on any of the other rides like the tea cup and space ship.  His favorite activity was walking all over the place.  Walk, walk, walk.  The cutest thing that happened was when I had to pick him up (to keep him from going out the front doors).  He squirmed and kicked, wanting down.  As I was setting him down I was instructing him "Say 'Down, please', Christopher".  When I let him go on the floor, he looked up at me with a big, proud smile and used the sign language for "please".

2/11/98, Wednesday - Toddler Status
I think we can safely say that Christopher is now a toddler!  He is walking all over the house and definitely toddling; arms out, teetering back and forth.  It's really cute.  I think he really enjoys being able to carry toys and move at the same time.  That was much more difficult when crawling.

2/6/98, Friday
Changed the pictures today.  For the old pictures, click here.

2/4/98, Wednesday
Christopher had his second haircut today.  He did very well considering he doesn't really like getting it done.  The lady was very quick, so she was done before he knew what was happening.

2/3/98, Tuesday- Bananas and The Long Walk
Christopher loves bananas.  He's crazy about them.  He is now eating about two a day.  He also loves to stuff as much food in his mouth as he can possible squeeze in.  He always looks like a chipmunk in his highchair.  I really need to get a picture of that.

Tina took the kids for a walk around the block today.  Our block is actually three square blocks because it has two culdesacs.  Christopher walked nearly clear around that block pushing his ride-on car.  That's a very long way.  As usual he point out every car that drove by and stopped to crawl up to parked cars.  He seems to get a lot of pleasure from touching the wheels and fenders of cars.

1/24/98, Saturday- Christopher takes multiple steps
Christopher has started taking multiple steps today.  He'll walk between Mommy and Daddy, taking two or three steps and then falling into our arms.  The delight in his eyes is precious.

1/21/98, Wednesday- Christopher and the trash
Christopher ate out of the trash today.  We've taught him not to touch the kitchen trash can and he never does, so we don't worry about it.  Mommy threw away the left overs of Nicole's lunch sandwich made with rainbow color bread.  Fortunately, the trash was full and it was sitting on a plastic bag right on top.  Nicole started yelling "Mommy, Mommy look at Christopher."  Tina then saw him sitting on the kitchen floor with the rest of Nicole's sandwich stuffed in his mouth.  Cheeks bulging.

1/17/98, Saturday- Christopher's First Step!!!
Christopher took his first step today.  He stepped and fell, but at least it was a start.  He's standing up quite a bit now and it seems pretty natural for him.

Other fun items about Christopher include that he blows on his food before taking a bite.  He's seen Mommy and me do it, so he's trying it.  He also likes playing with flip-top bottles.  He knows how to open and close them and he knows the meaning of the word open.

1/13/98, Tuesday
Christopher continues to try standing up.  Today he was on our bed helping Mommy fold clothes.  While on the bed he repeatedly stood up and sat back down.  In the evening he also stood up a couple of times and even tried picking up his dump truck from that standing position.

1/11/98, Sunday - Christopher Stands!!!
Christopher stood up today.  He has once or twice in the past, but has fallen right back down.  Today he stood for at least 15 or 30 seconds before gracefully sitting down.  He also did it twice.

Christopher is growing fast.  He is already too big for most of his 24 month outfits.

1/5/98, Monday
Christopher loves to eat table foods now.  He quite often asks to have some of what we're eating.  He loves apples.  We have to give him slices because he doesn't really want little pieces.  He wants big slices to chew on.  He'll stuff his mouth clear full and then ask for even more.  We try to encourage him to finish the first batch before stuffing in any more.

1/2/98, Friday
Christopher can now say the word "elbow".  I know it's a strange next word to learn, but he became interested in my elbow while changing his diaper.  I guess it's because I stick it in his face.  Anyway, he pronounces it something like "bew"

12/12/97, Friday
Christopher is just starting to try to stand up.  He can get himself into a crouching position without holding onto anything.  He then tries to stand and topples over.  When he falls he laughs.  He may be doing it on purpose because it's fun.
Last night I held his hands and walked behind him all the way from the back bedrooms to the livingroom.  His steps are  still pretty awkward, but they're coming along.

12/10/97, Wednesday
Christopher is getting more expressive all the time.  He loves to drop things and say "Uh oh" or "Bye, Bye".  Last night was special.  I was sitting on the couch when he crawled up and pulled himself up to standing.  He then proceeded to slap my knee and say "Da, Da" over and over.  The look he gave was precious.  He was really happy that I was there.
Christopher also loves to eat with silverware now.  He lets us put a piece of food on the fork, then takes the fork and puts it in his mouth himself.  He then hands us the fork for another piece.
Christopher is really into cars.  In fact, anything with wheels is called "Caaa", including his crib, toy tractors, ride-on toys and, of course, real cars.
