Kiki is a less of high adventure unlike Laputa and Nausicaa. It is of a young 13 year old witch who, like other witches, must fly away from hime and find a place in the world. Kiki knows nothing besides flying and her only possesions are her black talking cat, Jiji and her father's radio. A kind bakery family took her in and in exchange for a room, she sorks as a deliverer at the bakery shop. Soon the family got attached to her. This anime is about the coming of age of a young girl. Her struggle to make new friends and her determination to do her best in her work which include sending a cake in the rain. Comments :) I have only watched the pure japanese version without any subtittles, thus i cannot give much comments as i only understand some japanese. However, Studio Ghibli's animes have a way of conveying messages without words. (that's what make their anime so real). however, the anime seems to try to say that one must not lose faith in oneself. There was another character, a boy, who wants to learn to fly and since he cannot be like kiki, he developed a sort of flying bicycle with wings. He is the funny one in the anime. (he became a good friend of kiki). A very well animated film (all studio ghibli's anime are). Look out for the cat, Jiji,he's cute. ^_^ |
