Eschatology, Lost Opportunities, and Secrets Revealed. Part 30

While everyone else tried to understand the alien, DeMonStar was watching the whelp very carefully.

DeMonStar knew he had to be cautious about this battle. Knowing how much the whelp liked to talk, it wouldn't be long before his secret may have been revealed. He had underestimated the writer who created his enemy. A mistake he would not make again. Not if he wanted to be perfect.

The wizard produced a scepter from his robes, and aimed it at the other Z-mage. The red orb on top of the scepter began glowing.

"Prepare to die, creator!" the villian Z-mage yelled.

A second later he was yelling something altogether inappropriateas Fenris bit down on his arm, easily shattering the green flame armor Z-mage had, and throwing his aim off. An energy bolt emanated from the crystal on top and splashed against the wall, leaving black soot marks where it hit. The wizard threw Fenris off of his arm and raised the scepter again.

"You want to get involved, wolf?" Z-mage asked. "Then prepare to fry!"

Fenris merely growled.

Z-mage shot at him with the scepter again. The wolf jumped over the blast and managed to scratch Z-mage's other arm with his claws.

"So, you're a magic wolf, then," Z-mage said, cradling his arms.

"Yep," Fenris answered, and charged again.

Z-mage somersaulted and let Fenris fly over him.

"And a world ending one, if I'm not mistaken," Z-mage said while somersaulting. Z-mage raised the scepter again. "What a coincidence, so am I. But I can't be killed."

"What a coincidence," Fenris mimicked as he leapt over the blast, "So am I. He jumped and once again latched his teeth onto Z-mage's arm. Z-mage swung Fenris off his arm and into DeMonStar, who had been moving up behind him in order to keep him from saying too much to Demonicuss.

"I'll deal with you, De, after I take care of the wolf." With that Z-mage spread his arm out and gave a quick chant. Tiny sparks of electricity sprang from Z-mage's fingers and struck Fenris's fur. They began dancing all over it, increasing static electricity to the point where everyone's socks in the room were ripped off their feet and covered Fenris, muzzling him and covering his eyes, as well as all of his fur.

"Luckily I wasn't wearing a sweater," Papergirl said. No one really seemed to share her enthusiasm on that point.

Z-mage stared at DeMonStar. "So, is our truce finally gone? Oh well," Z-mage said. "I won't waste my time fighting an unworthy opponent. You've been right with your creator all this time and you still weren't able to kill him?"

DeMonStar felt bile raise in his throat. He could sense himself getting angry. This could ruin his current plan.

Meanwhile, Demonicuss was thinking back to when he'd first run into DeMonStar. When he had asked why DeMonStar didn't kill him on the spot, he responded, "If I did, I could also be destroyed."

Suddenly, that 'could' became the most important word in the world. Obviously DeMonStar wanted to know what would happen if Demonicuss died. But he wouldn't do something so foolish as kill his own creator to find out. So there was only one other test subject to try.

"Z!" Demonicuss yelled. "Get out of here before he kills you!"

Z-mage, the poster, who had been cowering in the corner in a fetal position the whole time, heard Demonicuss yell. He got up on unsturdy feet and ran for the door. Right before he got there, the wizard saw him and fired his scepter at the poster.

It just barely ripped a hole in Z-mage's jacket, opening a pocket and causing about 100 small, red and white marbles to fall out. None of them opened.

Z-mage made it into the hall and ran wildly, not looking where he was going. Knowing he couldn't go anywhere he was expected, Z-mage ducked into the Superman board to hide.
