Of Mice and Men, Part Thirty-One!
"Come back here!" bellowed the sorcerer as he pursued his creator. "Come back here!" cried the little green alien who seemed to feel neglected in all the confusion. "Bug off, alien," Z-Mage shouted back as he left the Vertigo Board and headed for the DC Block. Demonicuss motioned to DeMonStar to pick him up and follow Z-Mage. DeMonStar complied. Soon the room felt a lot less crowded and the posters began to calm down. "Geez, do a guy a favor and look at the thanks you get!" Plan 9 complained from his hoverchair. He explained to the crowd, "I told him I'd lead him to his creator if he would only do me the favor of capturing all of you guys here at the Vertigo Board so you couldn't escape, and here he up and leaves without doing a thing to help me!" Everyone gave him a nasty look. Plan 9 suddenly realized he'd said too much. "Uh oh..." "Grab him!" Papergirl yelled. Fenris pounced forward onto Plan 9. Strangely enough, the static cling had not yet worn off and he was still covered in socks. The static was unusually high, and it turned out to be enough to actually short-circuit Plan 9's hoverchair. The chair crashed to the ground with a thud. Fenris dragged Plan 9 to the center of the room, the static cling serving to stick the two posters together. "All right," Golden Lion huffed. "Talk! Why were you planning to keep us here?" Plan 9 shivered, still being shocked occasionally by a random bolt of static. "I don't need all of you," Plan 9 proceeded to explain. "Just the members of the Papermonkies." "Why?" asked Papergirl. "It's all part of my plan to conquer the world!" he boasted. "When I get all of the Papermonkies together under one roof, ALL MONKEYS will be MINE TO COMMAND!" "What makes you think that?" Sir Tim Drake queried. "It's true," Papergirl admitted. The others glared at her. "It's true!" she reemphasized. "When all of the Papermonkies gather together for meetings, the monkeys all flock to us! They offer us bananas and we swap various X-Men related titles." "It's amazing," Expletive Deleted commented. "They all just love us to death." "Once they almost wouldn't let me go," Wolvie*s Girlfriend revealed. "They just clung to me as if they were my biggest fans." "How strange!" Golden Lion remarked. "But why control all the monkeys?" "On March 13th I was going to have them congregate here at CBR. They were supposed to drive out to every major city in sophisticated futuristic rock cars and spread my reign across the globe! You don't know how powerful some primates can be, especially in large numbers!" "Oook!" ooked pulse. "Then were you the man who posed as howyadoin?" Golden Lion questioned. "No," Plan 9 asserted. "He was one of my agents. A traitor in your ranks! I thought you would guess who it was by now! I guess he maintained a pretty low profile throughout the story!" "Who was it?" Golden Lion asked. "Me," the impostor replied. He was standing just outside the open window to the room. He was indeed dressed exactly like howyadoin, although with a darker outfit that would blend in with the shadows. And he wore a howyadoin mask. "I made that mask," Plan 9 announced proudly. "You know how I've been cartooning the residents of CBR? That was practice." The impostor pulled off his mask to reveal his face. "Beldar?" Papergirl gasped.
