Established in 1955, the Institute of Business Administration is the oldest business school outside North America. IBA maintains the highest standard of education through its qualified faculty and brilliant students. IBA believes that the continuous development of professional, dedicated managers is the most important prerequisite for the development of a country like Pakistan. IBA stands first as a business administration school not only in Pakistan but also in South East Asia. Graduates coming out of IBA over the last several decades have distinguished themselves as catalysts of progress for prominent private and public organizations as well as for Pakistan. IBA offers several programs in Business Administration, Management Information Systems & Sciences and Computer Science. Degrees offered are BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), MBA (Master of Business Administration), and BCS (Bachelor of Computer Science). There are two types of programs: one is the day program for full-time students and the other is an evening program for working professionals who would like to continue their education as part-time students and obtain PGD (Post Graduate Diploma) on route to MBA. IBA's physical facilities are spread over two campuses, the main campus is at the Karachi University and the City Campus is in downtown Karachi. The two campuses occupy a total area of 80 acres. Hostel facilities are available at a reasonable cost which is located at the University Campus. There are two libraries altogether, one located at each campus and contain a large collection of books on Business Administration, Pakistani and foreign journals and research reports on Pakistani businesses. The Center for Computer Studies at IBA was established in 1983. It manages the computing infrastructure at both the campuses and offers computer courses for business administration students in addition to specialized academic programs in MIS and Computer Science. The location of IBA at Karachi, which is the financial center and the largest industrial city of Pakistan, and has the head offices of many multinational and Pakistani corporations, gives an added advantage to its students and faculty for research, internship and informal environmental learning which no other city can offer. |
