I am no longer updating this site, as you can see. I am leaving it up for now in the hopes that some of the information on it is still of use to someone. I will not be adding any new links, either. I apologize for any out-of-date links encountered herein. If I get some time in the future, I'll try to go through them and delete broken ones.

Another year has passed, and I have finally completed the new project section detailing our big landscaping project during the summer of 1999. We had a lot of work done, as you will see, and we are very happy with the results. One of these days I will add some pictures to show how it all looks now.

Don't forget to check out the links section, new ones are being added all the time.

Well, as anyone scanning down this page will see, it has been ages since I've added any new content to my web site. I have many excuses for this, of course, none of which would be of much interest. This update has simply been to add some new links to the More Links page, and to remove some dead ones. I do hope to add some new content soon. We've done so much in our yard in the past 2 summers, and I have tons of pictures to share. So, if you check back in a month, I hope you will find something new to see. In the mean time, I wish you all a Happy New Year.

We've sure been busy this spring and summer. We've had a major landscaping job done in our back yard. Gone forever is the grass, and here to stay is a new patio, new planting beds, and best of all - a pond. The contractors did most of the big work, and since then we have been busy planning and planting, watering and weeding, and most important, enjoying it all. We are loving the water, and learning a lot about this new area of gardening. We sit out a lot, and watch the fish, and the little frog who appeared from somewhere and has taken up residence. There is still some work to do, but right now I am taking a break, letting my aching muscles recover.

Prior to having all of this work done, I did a lot of reading and research on garden design and planning. I even took a short, four week course through our local continuing education program. With all I learned, I decided to write an article to pass some of it on to you. It's titled "How do I plan my garden? Do I really have to?" Of course, it is just an introduction into the huge area of garden design. But I hope that it is enough to make it feel a little less intimidating. I know I was pretty overwhelmed when I first started out. I hope you enjoy it.

I hope you all have a great summer, and don't forget to occasionally put down the garden tools and just relax and enjoy the warm weather and the fruits of your labour. Cheers!

Welcome to the newly reorganized Green Gardener! I realized that the old site layout just wasn't making it easy for people to find everything there is to see, so I've changed it. You will find renamed sections, better indexes, and a comprehensive site index. You will also find that I've split long articles up into smaller pieces, to make them easier to read and faster to download. This is just a start, check back soon for some new content and features.

This is just an interim update, while I am working on a site reorganization which I hope will help make everything easier to find. The only real change so far is the addition of a number of new links on the More Gardening Links page. I hope you find some things of interest there. And check back in a week or so to see the coming changes. Thanks.

I'm sure you are all very busy in your gardens, as I am. Spring arrived very early this year in Ontario, and there is so much to be done. I am working on a complete update, with a new question of the month, and more, but for now, here are some new links to bring you coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show, in England. You will find them near the top of my Favourite Gardening Links page.

One additional note. Many of you are writing to me with your gardening questions. I am grateful to get your mail, and to know that you are enjoying my site, but I must admit that I am not joking when I say that I am an inexperienced gardener. I simply don't have the background or experience to answer most of what is asked of me. So, I refer you instead to the links on my Favourite Gardening Links page. You will find a number of sites there by people who are horticulturalists or master gardeners, and who are making themselves available to answer people's questions. In addition, a number of the sites have discussion forums, in which you can post your questions, and get answers from fellow gardeners. I hope that these resources can help you find the answers you are looking for. I still appreciate hearing from you any comments or suggestions about my web site, or suggestions for adding links, or topics for the question-of-the-month page. Thanks for your understanding.
