A Cistercian Order Abbey (1180 - 1527)

The first known owner of the Julita Estate was the son of Erik the Holy, king Knut Eriksson.
In 1180 he gave the estate over to the Cistercian Order.
An abbey, Saba, was founded where the manor is now.

In 1527 the manor once more became a royal estage.

Mathias Palbitzki, owner 1662-1677, was also owner of an other welknown "cistercian" estage in Sweden - Alvastra.

The estate was aquired by The Nordic Museum (national historical museum) in 1943.

Excavations and documentations of the old Cistercian abbey have been made 1971-74 and in the 1990ths.

It begun with the Abbey..
