Assorted Ride Sheets
After shooting the breeze a while with my office mate Ben (see his
Harley on the other page), we agreed that there are lots of home
pages out there, and many of them have pretty much the same kind
of things. Albeit it's nice to see what everyone rides and hear about
the nifty things they've done to it, we realized that none of the pages
had any ride sheets posted. A lot of people have trip reports, etc,
but most of them just hit the highlighs. To reproduce the ride, one
would have to spend some serious time with a map trying to figure it
all out. Well, at Ben's suggestion, I decided to put this page
together. I'll continue to add all the rides that I take with CAMS,
the monthly MD HSTA rides (when I can go), and some of my own
backwoods concoctions. However, I would like to include rides from
all over the region, and all types of rides, i.e. spirited sport rides,
touring rides, historic rides, you get the picture. My goal is to get a
full collection of rides from North Carolina all the way to
Pennsylvania. What the heck, I'll add any ride from anywhere.
This page will give a brief description of each ride (when possible), and due credit will
always be given to whomever sends it to me. Below each ride description will be
a link to its text file so it's easy to print out a ride no matter what type computer you have. Eventually, I will seperate them into Mid-atlantic, Southeast, Northeast, etc. as more come in. But for now, all sheets are together since most are Mid-Atlantic. So, enjoy the rides and start sending 'em in!

CAMS 1st Annual "Tempt the Gods" ride
Nice windy ride through Loudoun county Virginia. Fairly good roads on most of ride, although some are bumpy. Can be ridden at almost any speed. Good scenery along the way and lots of shootoff options. Approximately 140 miles round from Fairfax Silver Diner to end in Leesburgh.
This is a great fall foliage ride. The entire route hovers within 15 miles or so of Frederick, MD, but you would never really know it since it has so many switchbacks and tons of things to see. The roads are moderate, and there are a lot of gorgeous homes along the way. With that in mind, the pace should be kept down a bit. Contributed by Steve Johnson, President, MD Honda Sport Touring
Association.
This ride has a little of everything. Scenery and history too! Total ride was around 90 miles or so. As with the HSTA ride above, the ride is best enjoyed between 35 and 50 mph. Eat at the Bar & Grill across from the flower shop in Thurmont, MD. Contributed by Morris Berman, CAMS "are you out of your mind,
small western trip (5000 miles) on a GPZ 1100".
I didn't get too much about this ride. CAMS did it about 1.5 years ago (bfore I moved into the area). I was told it was pretty good, but the roads were dusty (?). Anyway, sounds historic and I think I'll try it out as soon as my new tires arrive. Contributed by Morris Berman.
Beautiful Virginia ride. Total distance 135 miles. Not sure who original author is, but member Ben Hawkins contributed the sheet. He reports that the ride was absolutely wonderful. Nice windy roads, capable of all speeds.
This is a nice scenic MD ride. Total mileage is about 153 miles. Other than that I can't tell you much. Another fine CAMS member, Todd Peer, donated this ride sheet. He said it was a very enjoyable ride, and he also verified the sheet with map.
Another nice looking MD ride. Donated by Todd Peer
Maybe CAMS will take one of these two in the near future. We have been neglecting our MD riders for a while now.
A nice Virginia Poker Run covering roughly 160 miles. This one was donated by Leon Begeman.
This route goes through some very pretty Virginia countryside. At a little over 100 miles, it isn't so long that it can't be done easily in a day. The route goes from Exit 152 on I95, south and west to the Rappahannock River, north through Warrenton and back to I95. The roads are all paved, but if you're looking for gravel, turn right instead of left after crossing the Rappahannock, the river, Rt 3 and Rt 15/29 will be the boundaries that will eventually return you to somewhere on the route. This one was donated by Leon Begeman.
Being 20 degrees the morning of the ride, I'm sure all that attended were glad that this ride was only about 75 miles!! It heads through some nice windy back roads skirting th burbs of metro DC. Not a speed ride though due to the ever presence of civilization. This one was donated by Leon Begeman.
