PENNY

WHO I AM

A 24 year-old former Navy brat turned Coast Guard wife. Presently I live in Virginia with my husband Collin, although I grew up in Colorado and Connecticut. I'm still uncertain as to exactly what I want to be when I grow up. Until then, however, I am doing clerical work. The birth of our son Connor in March of '97 brought about quite a few changes. The following is a list of his birth stats for those interested:

Name: Connor Timick Fagan
Time: 11:19 p.m.
Place: Dewitt Army Hospital Ft. Belvoir, VA
Weight: 6 lbs, 11-3/4 oz
Length: 19.5 in

So far things are going well. Although Connor (or Sweet Pea as we refer to him, much to his future dismay) has his fussy moments, over all he's a pretty sweet kid. One of these years I would like to get a good night's sleep, however. We will be adding a supplemental page "Connor's Crib" which will update his life and contain pictures, but that is pending a new motherboard for the computer, since the new one Collin put in doesn't support our scanner :(

WHAT I LIKE TO DO

Above all I enjoy raising herps, and as of January, added a to that. A five foot amelanistic corn snake named Hoppy, to be exact. Other than that I love to shop (between pets and clothes we're going broke), educate people about herps and other "wild" animals, and read. Playing dungeons and dragons, writing, and watching (often low budget) horror movies completes my limited existance. I also love to surf the Net and spend time with my husband and adorable son (not that my husband isn't also adorable).

Psalm to an Engineer's Sweetheart

Verily, I say unto ye, marry not an engineer;
For an engineer is a strange being and possessed of many evils.
Yea, he speaketh always in parables which he calleth formulae.
He wieldeth a big stick which he calleth a slide rule.
And he hath only one bible, a handbook.
He thinketh only of strains and stresses, and without end of thermodynamics.
He showeth always a serious aspect and seemeth not to know how to smile.
He picketh his seat in a car by the springs thereof and not the damsels.
Neither does he know a waterfall except by its horsepower,
nor a sunset except that he must turn on the light,
nor a damsel except by her weight.
Always he carieth his his books with him, and he entertaineth his sweetheart with steam tables.
Verily, though his damsel expecteth chocolates when he calleth,
she openeth the package to discover samples of iron ore.
Yea, he holdeth her hand but to measure the friction thereof,
and kisseth her only to test the viscosity of her lips,
for in his eyes shineth a faraway look that is neither love nor longing,
but a vain attempt to recall formulae.
Even as a boy, he pulleth a girl's hair but to test its elasticity.
But as a man, he deviseth different devices.
For he counteth the vibrations of her heart strings
And seeketh ever to pursue his scientific investigations.
Even his own heart flutterings he counteth as a measure of fluctuation.
And his marriage is a simultaneous equation involving two unknowns
And yielding diverse results.
Verily, I say unto ye, do not marry an engineer!
