1998 / 1999

    Rowing Season

    This season was dedicated to the memory of the Strokes' beloved junior varsity coxswain Julia Burke.  In 1998/1999 the Strokes were one of the fastest junior crews in the nation achieving the following success:

    The Varsity Men 's 8 were first at the San Diego Crew Classic for the second year in a row, Won the Head of the Estuary, came in first at the Southwest Regional Championships for the second year in a row, won the Battle of the Bay, 1st at Opening day in Seattle for the second year in a row and placed 3rd in the National Championships (U.S. Rowing Youth Invitational) in Cincinnati.

    The Varsity Women's 8 placed 3rd at the Southwest Regional Championships

    Every rower won a medal at the Southwest Regional Championships.

    The Men's Varsity Lightweight 8 placed 2 in the country at the USRowing Invitationals
