Oakland Strokes has a strong showing in its first race of the year, winning the Cummin's Cup for the 3rd consecutive year!!!

In the Women's Light Weight Four Race, the Strokes also finished second to the University of Colorado "A" but beat the 2 college teams of Colorado"B" and the Cal Lightweights.

The Head of the Estuary is co-sponsored by the Strokes & the Lake Merritt Rowing Club and is organized by Robert Kidd.

This was the 20th annual Head of the Estuary held at Jack London Square on the Oakland / Alameda Estuary on October 25, 1998 with many outstanding organizations participating including the Cal Heavyweights, Cal Women's rowing teams , University of Colorado, San Diego Rowing Club & Cal Lightweights.

     Women's Open Four:

The women's four came in 5th to three Cal boats and Stanford Rowing Club but beat the University of Colorado, the Cal Lightweights and Mills College.
