Ceri Rees got off to a good start in the first event, 200 backstorke with a time of 3:15.86. Sisters' Carly and Jenna Cook swam PBs in this event 3:07.28 and 2:54.8 respectively, and Rachel Tonge took 4h place in the 13/14 age group.

Ben Gaskell recorded a time of 3:15.19 taking 9 seconds off his entry time.

In the 100m breastroke event that followed, it was another PB for Ceri (1:42.39) coming in 5th place in the final, with Jessica Blakemore in a time of 1:37.52 to win silver. A great swim from Kate Holley (11/12 age group) in the final, with a 1:26.6 and a bronze medal. PB again for Jenna Cook in a time of 1:31.33.

More medals for Jess and Ceri in the 100 IM 1:27.8 and 1:28.0, taking 3rd and 4th places respectively, and Kate Holle with 3rd in her age with 1:21.04.

Another gold for Dominic in the IM 1:24.23 and a PB from Ban 1:33.18 and Justin Rees in a time of 1:22.42

The 400 front crawl was the last event, but the swimmers still had plenty of energy left for PBs.

It was good to see the younger swimmers having a go at this event. Jes came 3rd with 5:54.68 (11 seconds PB), Carly 6:03.84 (31 seconds off her entry time!), Dominic Prescott 3rd 5:33.76 and Ben taking 17 seconds off his entry time with 6:09.48

Annual General Meeting

The club's annual general meeting was held at W.I.S. on 24th May 2001. Reports were made by the chairman, Nick Holmes. The treasurer, Alan Jenkins, and the Chief Coach, Dave Haller. With no seats for the committee being contested the voting was very straightforward. The new management and finance committee is now made up of the following members...

Female Swimming Representative - To be chosen by the swimmers

Male Swimming Representative - To be chosen by the swimmers

All nominees were appropriately proposed and seconded

Parents Representatives

There are 2 Parents representatives in the club who's role is to act as a 'go-between' between parents/guardians and the clubs' Management and Finance Committee. This is to enable parents / guardians to air any queries or grievances that they may have about the club regarding non swimming or coaching matters.

The 2 reps are Chris Garfield, representing the squads 'Reception - J2', and Phil Cook, who represents squads 'J1, Youth and Elite Squad'. Both Phil and Chris can be found at various club sessions throughout the week or they can be reached on e-mail by clicking on this link.
