Pontypool Inter Club Gala



17th March 2001




This was my first gala with City of Cardiff Swimming Club as a coach and a nerve wracking one to begin with, having never been solely in charge of a team before. Once on the poolside with the warm up over, all nerves went. I settled down further once we had won the first couple of events - always a good way to start a competition.

In total we had 25 1st places and some very good swims from a few new faces. The end result was a victory overall and I was impressed by all of you. Well Done!

Reading Swimming Club Open Meet



13th - 15th April 2001




The Reading Swimming Club Open Meet was held on the 13th, 14th and 15th of April 2001. Once again our age group team rested and peaked for this 3 day event, which resulted in many, many outstanding performances. City of Cardiff claimed 'Top Club' for the second year in succesion and overall, a total of 148 PB's were achieved at this competition. It is difficult to single out any individual as there were so many good performances. The honours are as follows:

Sian Lloyd - Top swimmer in her age group

20 Gold medals

17 silver medals

23 Bronze medals


As a result of performances at this gala and previous compettions We have 14 National age group Qualifiers (so far)
