OUCH!!!
May 18, 2000
The Howell Blackhawks wish Jordan McGhee a speedy recovery from a nasty situation that occurred last weekend. Apparently while Jordan was playing for the 14-U Sabres on Sunday, an opponent punched Jordan in the head. The "kid" was a foot taller and about 120 pounds heavier and left Jordan with a concussion. Jordan is doing fine, but he will be taking it easy for the next week or so. On a personal note; Hang in there McGhee's, the Howell Blackhawks support you and the Sabres coaching staff in whatever comes of this situation.
WINTER 2000 ALLAIRE HIGHLIGHTS
March 21, 2000
The Winter 2000 season was a banner season for your favorite hockey club. To be honest, I did not expect the club to do as well as it did. We had lot of obstacles to overcome this season, but to my "surprise", the kids and coaches really came through big. And in order to do better than the Fall 1999 season, we really had to do something special. And boy did we ever.
We ended the last Millennium by winning the championships in all three fall leagues that we were playing in. It was our most successful season as a club in our "short" five year history. How could we ever top that? As I said we had a lot of obstacles to overcome this season. After the fall 1999 season our 12-U Allaire team lost 8 of its biggest players to age as all 8 moved up to create our new 14-U team. To add to their misery, one of our key 12-year-olds, left the team the night before the first game, leaving us short a player at the last minute. And let’s not forget each team was missing a player and a coach thanks to skiing.
When the 12-U season began, we had 6 new players. Losing a key player the night before the first game was rough. And one of the bench coaches took the season off. The 14-U team was loaded with 13-year-olds with a couple 11 and 12-year olds fill out the roster. And the same coaches was missing here. We were a young team playing in an older division. The 10-U team was brand new. Everyone from the players to the coaches. They had to gel as a team as well as facing the usual obstacles. And finally, the 8-U team was back defending its fall 1999 championship without their leading scorer as he is now playing for the Jaguars. Four teams in Allaire all with the same goal in mind. Winning the championship. But they had to reach that game, which is never easy. Once you reach the playoffs, all it takes is one loss to end the dream of playing in the championship game. Trust me, it is not easy to get there.
With these obstacles in mind, we started the new Millennium with thoughts that our club left it’s best season behind us. As I have learned many times in the past, never underestimate my Blackhawks. How can you do better than winning three club championships? Easy. You advance all four teams to the championship game as we did for the Winter 2000 season. We won three more championships, and nearly won a fourth. The 8-U team went undefeated as they won a close game against the Jaguars to win their second straight 8-U championship. The 10-U team entered the playoffs wit a 3-4 record and came together at the right time to win a close game against the Jaguars as they won the 10-U championship in their first season. And for the second straight season, the 12-U team won a close game against the formerly undefeated Roadrunners to win their second straight 12-U championship. And finally, our brand new 14-U team advanced to the championship game with an 8-1 record. That only loss came to the undefeated Sabers, who have won four of the last five 14-U championships. Definitely one of the great teams. Then came a shootout where the first round of three shooters ended in a tie. After this it was sudden death. The Blackhawks and Sabres matched each other for four more shooters, when the Sabers eight shooter broke the deadlock to win the championship. We might not have won the championship, but as well as we played against such a great team, we certainly don’t feel like we lost it either. And we still have one team left playing their Winter 2000 season in Jackson. With an 8-1 record they have a tough road ahead of them against some really good teams. Check out each teams season reviews right here.

10-U's ARE THE WINTER 2000 CHAMPIONS in Good Sports Allaire
March 21, 2000
In their first season as a team the 10-U Howell Blackhawks won the winter 2000 championship in Good Sports Allaire. After a tough first game 11-1 loss to the Mustangs the Blackhawks battled back and played many close games. When the regular season ended we saw the Blackhawks with a 3-4 record. But following in Blackhawks tradition, when the playoffs begin, we seem to find ways to win. And this team managed to win the three most important games of thier season, the final three. Check out the seasons results to see how well the team played.

Titans Tickets - Latest Info
April 5, 2000
Thanks to everyone that did follow through with their commitment to our season tickets plan for the 1999-2000 season. Unfortunately a few folks did not honor their commitments and left us in a bind before the season began, but thanks to some creativity, we were able to fulfill our season ticket requests. And we had a few left to give to some of our supporters, and a couple left for contests. Thanks to all.
We have been contacted by the Titans about Kelly Cup Playoff tickets and next seasons tickets. Unfortunately, we WILL NOT be getting involved with season tickets again.
SORE SPORTS
April 10, 2000
I got a funny message last week. Someone was curious to know if we wanted to enter a 14-U team in Sore sports on Friday nights. Apparently Sore Sports is short teams and they are desperate for teams to play. I had to decline the offer. After the way they treated our 14-U team last year and the way they have shown a lack of respect for our 10-U, 12-u and 8-U players prevents me from entering a Blackhawks team there. However, I would love to play a tournament there, but as far as an extended stay at Sore Sports. NO WAY. While some Blackhawks might have forgiven them and involved themselves with the folks at Sore Sports, I remember how they treated our players. Funny thing is, I was not around for most of the "fun stuff" but I heard about it. I am concerned that if we start winning games, they will start fights with and taunt our players again and it's just not worth it. They had many problems when our 14-U "A" team was beating all their teams, but they showed a real lack of class the way they treated our 12, 10 and 8-year-old players in tournaments.
MORE FAN MAIL...... and how we love fan mail.
February 25, 2000
We just got this one and we had quite a laugh with it. Thought we would share it with everyone. It has been a long time since we got one this fun. I replied to this fan, but I have not heard back from him. I suppose we will never know who it is.
It surprises me that you have STACKED a team that you feel is unbeatable, yet you are going around to different rinks and beating up on teams that are just starting out, or don't have a STACKED team as yourself. You talk about good sportsmanship in your page and yet you are thrown out of leagues for your dirty play, or just walking off of the rink without either finishing the game or shaking hands with the other team. I feel you should look up the word "Sportsmanship". It is to bad that teams and coaches such as yours thrive on keeping building teams feel like losers. Well my friend, it is teams and coaches like yourselves that give everyone else a bitter taste in their mouths. Sure the parents and players, and coaches are happy, but the kids don't learn how to lose, and don't learn the sportsmanship.

We just got another one of these e-mails. Am I missing something at the games or what? Or is this related to Blackhawks teams that I am not involved with? Can anyone answer this?

Five Howell Blackhawk teams went to Atlantic City to compete in the 1999 Philadelphia NHL Breakout Off Ice Roller Hockey Tournament. We joined 85 other teams from the northeast to play in temperatures that reached 100 degrees. The 10-U team continued their winning ways as they won their third straight NHL Breakout tournament. Too bad we can't afford to get these little dynamos to one of the national championships. Check out the reviews.....

The 10-U and 14-U Blackhawks are WHA Regional Champions. As regional champions the teams earned an invitation to play in the Nationals in St. Louis. Unfortunately, we only had two weeks to prepare for this and due to financial considerations the 10-U team will not be able to get to St. Louis.

WELCOME HOME ERIC
March 9, 2000
Well sort of. Eric Kleinberg "skated" through town on Saturday, February 26th, as he headed into the Ocean Ice Palace to play an ice hockey game against Brick. Coach Ed went down to see Eric play and reported back that he is still playing fantastic. And he has become an even better skater. I wish we were able to make it, but we were racing three hours away in Pennsylvania that afternoon. Good luck and welcome home Eric.

The Howell Blackhawks have gotten back to their roots. We are again utilizing our "feeder system". The way it works is when a player is ready to move up to the older team, we would give him a spot. We won't recruit from the outside, until we have an opening that is not going to be filled from the younger team. Even though it stopped working that way recently, we are now back to that concept. Remember LOYALTY is a part of being a Blackhawk.
