TOURNAMENT RESULTS

July 1996, South Amboy Roller Magic.
Twelve-year-old division. Fourth Place.
We lost the semi-final game to the tournament champions. The game ended in a tie and went to the fifth shooter in a shootout. Also lost consolation game going to the seventh shooter in a shootout after the game ended in a tie. This was a real close tournament for all. We had 5 goals for and 5 goals against. The winning team had 6 goals for and 5 goals against.

December 1996, Deptford Christmas Shootout.
Ten-year-old division. Third Place.
We came home with a trophy as we finished in third place out of six teams. Matt Deering starred in goal as Jeff Angert and RJ Farkas led the team in scoring.

December 1996, Deptford Christmas Shootout.
Twelve-year-old division. Second Place.
Our older team took home a second place trophy while losing a close game to national powerhouse Deptford. Victor Scotto-di-Carlo won the Tournaments High Scorer Trophy.

February 1997, Philadelphia Sports Super Center.
Eight-year-old division. First Place.
The Blackhawks dominated the tournament outscoring our opponents 6 to 1 while winning all five games. Ed Miccuilli and Adam Houli led the team in scoring while Matt Deering starred in goal while winnig the Best Goalie Trophy.

February 1997, Philadelphia Sports Super Center.
Twelve-year-old division. First Place.
This was one of the toughest days we have had. We faced Philadelphia’s Regional Champion and their “B” team in games that were refereed by their coach. The Blackhawks had to learn fast to play tough while playing “street” hockey where checking was not stopped. We had a great day as our nine and ten-year old loaded team rose to the occasion by coming back from a 3-0 deficit, to win the championship game 6 to 3. Stephen Iwanyk won the Best Goalie Trophy. Lifelong friends were made here as the truly classy Philadelphia Regional Champion team gracefully handled defeat. Coach Bill Smith inspired the kids with his classic Lexus speech.

March 1997, The Coliseum, Vorhees, NJ.
Eight-year-old division. Fourth Place.
Playing against nationally ranked and sponsored teams the Blackhawks played great but finished in fourth place against some of the toughest competition they had ever faced.

April 1997, Kendall Park Skating Center.
Ten-year-old division. Second Place.
This tournament was another defensive struggle for all teams involved. We lost 2 shootouts as the Kendall Park and Big Wheel goalies shut our shooters down. Alex Cerbone starred in goal while playing his first games as goalie. The town of Princeton was in a panic as the Blackhawks invaded the Forrestral Village for a night before meal. I’m sure they regret staying open that extra five minutes.

July 1997, Garden State Games, Deptford Skating Center and Montvale Skating Center.
Ten-year-old division. Fourth Place.
After competing in Deptford, the Blackhawks advanced to the Bronze Medal game in Montvale. The Blackhawks lost a close game to the Montvale “B” team.

July 1997, Garden State Games, Deptford Skating Center and Montvale Skating Center.
Twelve-year-old division. Second Place.
The Blackhawks played great in the preliminary round as they finished on top which allowed them to represent New Jersey’s southern region in the Championship Gold Medal game. The Blackhawks lost to the 1996 Champions as Montvale defended it’s title.

July 1997, Garden State Games, Deptford Skating Center and Montvale Skating Center.
Fourteen-year-old division.
This was a tough day. This team was thrown together at the last minute. More than half of the team was playing together for the first time. Two players were not even on the team the day before. They faced some great competition and lost many close games.

September 1997, NHL Breakout, Rye Playland, New York.
Twelve-and-under division. Second Place.
In one of the most fun tournaments we played in the Blackhawks dominated the competition while outscoring the competition leading up to the championship game 18 to 5. In the championship game the Blackhawks were outplayed by the bigger and faster Hermans Hurricanes. As is our style (thanks to some of our fans) we made more lifelong friends as we hit it off with the Hurricanes. In the second hotel of the weekend (we were a little noisy in the first hotel and decided to leave) we found the Blackhawks to be adept in playing the piano. After playing a hockey game on the tennis courts and “enjoying” the spa and pool, the Blackhawks were seen playing the piano to the enjoyment of all. The coaches longed to get into the bar, but it was filled with tons of women as the Lovely Ladies organization held a singles dance.

February 1998, Embassy Skating Center, Allentown, Pa.
Ten-year-old division. Second Place.
The Blackhawks played some tight games here to finish in Second Place.

February 1998, Extreme Skating Center, Bridgewater, NJ.
Fourteen-year-old division.
The Blackhawks beat the Kendall Park Lumberjacks in a game that ended at 11:00 Friday night only to find that they were playing back to back games at 6:00 and 6:30 the next morning. The lack of sleep and playing two great teams back to back was more than the Blackhawks could overcome as they lost to Inline Hockey Club, one of the best clubs in the State. In the second game we had the chance to play against our old friends from Philadelphia, who were coached by our good friend Charlie, the referee in Philadelphia.

November 1998, Good Sports Allaire.
Twelve-year-old-division
Ed took a twelve-year-old team to a tournament. He used mostly his 10-year-old breakout team. Of the 8 teams, only 4 made it to the playoff round. We made it to the playoffs. We lost the first game to the eventual champions.
January 1999, Tampa Bay, NHL Breakout Championships
Fourteen-year-old-division
Not a great end result here. A lot of preparation went into this, but we fell short. We lost to the Starz (remember them from Disney) 3 to 2. Then we lost to our divisions champions on a shootout. This eliiminated us from advancing into the playoffs. Oh well. We had fun anyway. After the ice storm delayed our flights out for up to a day, and a storm delayed our flights back for 12 hours, we were exhausted.
May 1999, Good Sports Allaire
Fourteen-year-old-division
We went 3-1 and lost a shootout to the Wave in the semifinal game.
May 1999, Narch, Boston Hockey Center, Revere, Mass.
Fourteen-year-old-division
We went 1-2 in our first visit to a NARCH Tournament. Great time. An inspiring moment was losing to Inline Skating Clubs "The Bullets" by a score of 5 to 2. We have been under the impression that the team from Wallington is the best in the state. We kept the game close, which was a boost to our program.

November 1999 - 8-U Turkey Hunt - Good Sports Allaire
The little Hawks finished in 2nd place behind a powerfull Wave team from Toms River. For most of the players, it was their 3rd tournament and they played well. The Wave team was made up of players that were slightly older that our team with made the difference. It was nice to watch the Wave execute their offense since they had more experience playing in tournaments.

They BlackHawks got some great goaltending from Jonatan King. Mark Powell, Mark Moskowitz, Nicky Micciulli, Steven Alfano, Anthony Mastronardi, Anthony Stahl, Alan Barnstead Sean Daudelin & Zak Piccoline played incredible and seemed to step it up when the team need to win. Hopefully the kids had fun and gained valuable experience.

November 1999 - 10-U Turkey Hunt - Good Sports Allaire
This was a disappointing tournament for the team which beat the lightning fast Bad Apples, Jaguars and Rangers from Morristown. They came into this tournament as teh favorites and played like it beating all 3 teams convincingly. They the met the Jaguars in the 1st round of the playoffs. Give all the credit in the world to the Jaguars who had a great tournement and game because they figured out how to beat us.

Ed Micciulli played his best hocky ever by scoring 10 goals and 3 assist in 4 games. Mike Costa was great as always in goal along with Jordan McGee, Mike Gumina, Matt Staggard who complimented Ed well, Tim Buckley who playes great %100 of the time, Dusty Craven and Justin Dronne and Anthony Stahl who played his heart out on defense.

November 1999 - 12-U Turkey Hunt - Good Sports Allaire
We came, we saw, we lost and we went home. Oh well. We are humble in defeat. We went 0-3 in this tournament as we lost three close games. I was not here and I did not pursue a review from anyone that was there.

We had a few more tournaments in here, but I can't rememebr them. There was the Christmas week one and an Easter time one.

July 15-16, 2000 - Philadelphia NHL Breakout - Atlantic City
We had 5 teams registered. A 8-U team a 12-U "A" team, a 12-U "B" team, a 14-U "B" team and a 17-U team.
