Q: What is Baumlam?

A: Baumlam is the Religion of Razorback Baseball and its components. The name comes from Baum Stadium, the Mecca of college baseball. Those who participate in Baumlam are known as Baumlists. They strive to experience Razorback baseball in its fullest at Baum stadium. Baumlam is based in Northwest Arkansas, but is open to anyone from anywhere. Higher beings exist in Baumlam. These beings are Hognoxious, Chuck Barrett, Norm DeBriyn, Candyman, RBI Girls, Diamond Dolls, the grounds crew, ushers, and of course the players. Inanimate objects are also paid holy respect. Mucho Nachos w/jalapenos are much loved by Baumlists along with sunflower seeds. The big one of course is Baum Stadium. This is the Vatican of Baumlam. Certain beings receive more attention than others. Hognoxious is probably the most important being of Baumlam. Coaches, players, and the others can be replaced. It would be impossible to replace Hognoxious.

Q: Who created Baumlam?

A: The first to coin the term was Ron Miller. Then he and his friend Matt Hanafin (author of this site) laid down the guidelines of Baumlam when they created the 17 Commandments one October night chatting over the Internet. Ron and Matt prefer to think of themselves as prophets instead of the creators. Currently, Ron lives in Rogers and Matt has moved from Rogers to Jonesboro to attend college at ASU. Ron will certainly be at many games this year and Matt will come to as many as possible. Hopefully Matt's dad will once again purchase season tickets.

Q: What are the 17 Commandments?

A: The 17 Commandments are a set of guidelines that all good Baumlists should follow closely and carefully. We chose to have 17 Commandments because of Wes McCrotty. Matt fears Wes McCrotty greatly due to past experiences that are quite humorous. Besides we had more than 16 and less than 18. The Commandments have undergone some editing to make them available to a broader audience. There is a good chance that those unfamiliar with Razorback Baseball will not understand many of the Commandments.
