After the Warriors moved to Oakland from San Francisco in 1971, they endured some lean years before finally winning the NBA championship in 1975. With a cast of characters that no one expected them to win with, the Warriors melded into one of the most exciting and dynamic teams that year, taking a heavily favored Washington Bullets team to the full seven games of the series and winning.
The Golden State Warriors represents the National Basketball Association in the Bay Area. After moving to San Francisco from Philadelphia in 1962, the San Francisco Warriors moved to Oakland in 1971 and became the Golden State Warriors .
The team's general manager and head coach is Gary St. Jean, who served as an assistant coach with the team and as a head coach with the Sacramento Kings before returning to the Warriors.
