  • Australian Mens Hardcourt Championships - defeated in the second round by Eagle and Florent, 6-3 6-7(3) 7-6(2).
  • Adidas International - Winners, defeating Eltingh and Nestor 6-3 7-5 in the final.

  • Australian Open - Defeated in the final by Eltingh & Bjorkman 6-2 5-7 2-6 6-4 6-3.

  • Sybase Open - Winners, defeating Aerts and Sa in the final 6-1 7-5.
  • Kroger St. Jude - Winners, defeating Ferreira and Roditi in the final.
  • Newsweek Champions Cup - Lost 2nd Rnd to Courier/Philippoussis 6-4 2-6 7-5
  • Lipton Championships - Retired in the 2nd Round against Adams/Ferreira
  • Davis Cup, Rnd 1 - Won their doubles rubber against the Black brothers 6-4 7-6 6-2

  • The Gold Flake Open - Lost in the Qtr Finals to Clement/Golmard 7-6(7) 6-1
  • Monte Carlo Open - Lost in the Final to Eltingh/Haarhuis 6-4 6-2
  • BMW Open, Munich - The Woodies won this tournament, defeating Eagle and Florent in the final.
  • World Team Championships - Despite Australia being knocked out after the round robin, the Woodies won all their doubles matches
  • French Open - The Woodies were defeated in the third round by Knowles and Nestor 6-4 6-2 6-0
  • Queens - Declared joint winners after rain prevented the completion of the tournament.
  • Wimbledon - The Woodies were defeated in the final by Eltingh and Haarhuis 2-6 6-4 7-6 5-7 10-8. Arrrgh!!
