BRITISH DEPENDENCY OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS

In 1833 four British dependencies in the Carribean - Barbados, Grenada, St Vincent and Tobago - were united into an adminstrative union, to which St. Lucia was added in 1838. (1) (1) Later territorial changes included : 1885 : Barbados was detached from the union 1889 : Tobago was detached from the union 1940 : the island of Dominica was added. __________________________________________________________________________________
