ANGLICAN CHURCH IN ST. VINCENT
BRITISH DEPENDENCY OF SAINT VINCENT
In 1660 the island of St. Vincent - claimed by England and by France - was declared
neutral. (1)
The island remained however a source of conflicts until, by the Treaty of Paris of
1763, it was finally granted to the United Kingdom.
The island became part of the administrative union of the Windward Islands in 1833.
(1) Meaning it was left to the indigenous Carib Indians, who were only submitted
by the British after their revolt of 1795.
(Unlike it was the case in Dominica, they then gradually vanished, mixing with
the black population of the island)
