Fractures in the rocks of a salt dome are disjointed and the strata is no longer alligned.

The fractures at Upheaval Crater are like the radial cracks where a pebble hit a glass window. The strata is still alligned.

Note the road at the bottom left of this picture. The large long rounded rock just above the road is known as "Whale Rock." A radial fracture passes through the area from the center of the Crater and just in front of it's nose. Four more cross it's back.

Further around the ring to the right, a major fracture passes through the large notch. The next fracture passes through "Alcove Spring." In all instances, there is no gap between the rocks or strata as would be seen in a salt dome.
