Rim Rocks
Geologists claim that over a mile of material has been eroded from above Upheaval dome. The least eroded part of the site is the south east corner of the outer rim. Some thousands of years ago most of the rim probably looked like this corner.

Note that the strata is contiguous and that the edge [and only at the edge] has been curved up in a circular form, like the neck of a pottery bowl, and then "
ruffled!" Compare with A Crater on the far Side of the Moon.

If this were a salt dome, there would be disjointed columns of tumbled rocks instead.
