Our Beloved Headboy and Deputy Head Prefect

[Our Headboy, JK]

J. P. Keir

Headboy 1999

This young man has the 'x' factor that will surely mark him as a truly excellent Head Prefect.

He is a superb all-rounder. In sport he is a member of the Senior A Squash team, captain of Senior A Volleyball, opening batsman for Second XI Cricket, a sound soccer player, member of the cross country team and also represented the school in basketball.

He has been involved in School productions, won the AGS Public Speaking Prize last year and had given selflessly in service to the community.

Academically, Jonathan Keir is a most impressive scholar. He has already made the Honours Board by virtue of his NZEST Scholarship award and he topped New Zealand in NZEST Latin.

J P Keir is a most energetic young man with a huge capacity for work; he is forthright, popular, mature, honest and reliable with a genuine independance of spirit.

Throughout his time at AGS he has been a superb contributor and he undoubtedly possesses all the requisite qualities to make an excellent Head Prefect.

Knowing JK since the third form in 3A, I'm sure we can all honestly say that he is a most worthy and deserving Head Prefect. Keir is your typical Mr Nice Guy: he's a good sport, and is always good to have around. He is genuine, kind, and has kept his hair less than 1cm long for almost four straight years: a great feat. Good on ya, JK :)

[Deputy Coleman]

J. B. Coleman

Deputy Head Prefect 1999

J B Coleman is also a stunning all-rounder who will undoubtedly prove to be a magnificent Deputy Head Prefect.

He has involved himself fully in the life of the school throughout his time at AGS. In Music he is a member of the orchestra and Concert band; he has also been involved in various drama productions.

Jonathan Coleman is a most accomplished sportsman. This year he will be one of the strike bowlers for the Second XI of First XI side, and is also most likely to be a member of the First XI Soccer squad after last year performing very well for the AGS Second XI.

J B Coleman is a most mature and reliable young man. He is witty, articulate and a strong scholar.

Saying that Jonathan is 'witty' may be the biggest understatement of the year. The resident 'bad-boy' of 7A, Jonathan has also proven to be as well-behaved as any other member of the class (at times).

Jonathan has played very many succesful games for the First XI Soccer squad this year. At the recent New Zealand Secondary Schools' Premier Soccer Tournament in Palmerston North, he played for every minute of every game for the Grammar team (bugger!). He is also a great and professional actor, playing the shady Simon Gascoigne in this year's production, 'The Real Inspector Hound', and "struting his stuff" in the Prefects' Dance in 'Crimebusters'. He is a most amusing and dependable Deputy Head Prefect, acting as Headboy in the absence of J. Keir (whilst JK was on the Western Heritage Tour). For a large, but by no means full, treatment of Jonathan see the centrefold (teehee) of 'ad augusta' Vol. 7 No. 2 - "A day in the life of Jonathan Coleman"
