Here's a preview sent in for fan-fic writen by Dyne and Tilson-****

Dyne was born in Noonvale. Shortly after he was born, Noonvale was attacked by vermin. Noonvale was burnt to the ground and most of the inhabitants were killed. Dyne was saved by a mother badger named Melanic. Melanic escaped only with Dyne and her son Tilson. Melanic was badly wounded but some how travelled all the way to Redwall abbey without stopping using her legendary badger endurance and stamina. Upon reaching Redwall's gates she collapsed. She fell in to a deep coma that lasted for over a year. Dyne and Tilson were taken in by Redwall's current abbot, Mordecai. Mordecai or Mort as he liked to called was a very young mouse that had just became abbot. Mort had a son named Matt who was Dyne and Tilson's age. Matt was being trained to be the next abbey warrior by Jake. Jake was burly (as all otters are) and Jake decided to train Dyne and Tilson also. Even at a young age Dyne and Tilson were great warriors. Dyne had a natural talent with daggers and could use them very well. Later that year Redwall was attacked and taken over. The attack woke up Melanic and she helped Dyne and Tilson escape. Dyne and Tilson grew up outside Redwall and attacked when the time was right they saved Redwall. Dyne was renamed Dyne the Dagger and made the abbey warrior, Tilson was renamed Tilson the Gargantuan and became a badger lord, and Matt became the new abbot.

Here's an excerpt from the book-

the future looked bleak and weary
the sight of their faces, dreary.
It was a sight that no one would have ever thought possible,
But it had finally happend, evil had conqured redwall!

The Treasure of the Foxfire Caverns
Snitter>

This story begins far to the south of Mossflower, where an evil polecat-ferret named Polefar Saberfang is searching for a lost treasure, the treasure of the Foxfire Caverns! The Foxfire Caverns were once home to a great underground kingdom filled with treasure beyond the dreams of any creature, but, the key to the gates was in three pieces so that if an enemy captured one piece he still could not get in. The first piece was entrusted to a family of wildcats, and it had been passed down through the generations up until the time when this story begins, when Polefar attacks the wildcats' home with his army of vermin killing all but one of the cats, a cub named Amaryll Goldeyes, who escaped with the key and fled northward away from Polefar and his army who followed hot on his tail.
Meanwhile, in Redwall, a young mousemaid named Anabell (Ana) and her squirrel friend Red Robyn (Robyn) are busy getting into trouble of their own, playing pranks and causing mischief until theother redwallers hardly know what to do!

However they are not oblivious to the real danger that Redwall is in-- a long, cold winter and a hot, dry summer have caused the harvest to be far smaller than usual, and there may not be enough food to last the winter! But, one night Ana accidentally discovers the hidden tomb of Martin the Warrior, and the sheath without a sword, and she begins to form a daring plan. it isn't long before she manages to discover the location of the sword: tied to the weather vane on the abbey roof. That night she puts her plan into action. She persuades Robyn to climb to the rooftop and retrieve the sword, then, having loaded her pack with provisions and suppiles (and a few small boxes full of odds and ends that she found in the attic, just to take up space) they set off quietly into Mossflower, to search for a place where there was food that they could bring back to Redwall.
About a day away from Redwall they met another traveler, a young mouse named Reith, who was also heading southward. He explained that the village he came from had been struck by a mysterious disease and he had been sent to search for a cure. Reith joined them and together they continued southward, but, trouble lay in their path. As they went through the woodland they suddenly stumbled across the camp of Polefar and his army, who captured them and decided to make them their slaves. However, as they began to march north, they met up with another army, an army of rats and weasels, led by a large fox called Blackbrush.
Blackbrush knew Polefar from their younger days and held a grudge against him. Because of this, a fight quickly began with some of Polefar's army siding with Blackbrush and some of Blackbrush's army siding with Polefar. In the confusion, Ana, Robyn, and Reith were able to escape. Once they were away from the fight, they dicovered that they were not alone. Amaryll, who had been a prisoner of Blackbrush, was with them also. They had to get away quickly and the only way to go was south. So they set out again with the addition of Amaryll and continued south. They traveled for many days through forests and across grasslands and marshes and streams and hills, facing many dangers, but, overcoming them all. One day, while crossing a wide plain, they heard a strange sound, and, investigating closer, they found that it was a young hare who was roaming around singing and talking to himself!
He told them that his name was Nebulous Cloudjumper, or Nebbie for short. He had no family or friends, just himself, so when they asked him if he would like to come with them, he literally jumped at the opportunity and joined them when they set off again.
They kept going farther and farther south while, unbeknownst to them, Polefar and his army were following them at a distance, while far to the north Redwall was being beseiged by Blackbrush and his vermin. Polefar was sure that Amaryll and his friends were heading for the Foxfire caverns, that they were trying to beat him to the treasure! The thought made Polefar so anxious that, as they drew nearer to where the caverns were located, he decided to attack.
As the friends walked along they suddenly heard the war cries of the vermin and turned to see Polefar's army racing over the top of a hill towards them! They evaded their pursuers by diving into a small crevice between some rocks and discovered that it led down into a tunnel carved out of the rock. They followed the tunnel into the hillside, all the while going farther down into the earth while, outside, Polefar didn't try to follow them through the hole, but headed for the other side of the hill, where he knew the tunnel led: right to the gates of the Foxfire caverns.
The five friends reached the gates first, but they were locked. Solid stone gates with only one mark on them: a small depression in the center in a shape that resembled the head of an animal. Amaryll took out his piece of the key, which fit into one of the ears, but the key was still incomplete. Then, suddenly, Reith took something out of his pack and held it up to Amaryll's piece. The edges fit perfectly. It was the other ear, the second piece! But the third piece was still missing, and they could hear Polefar's army drawing near. They searched franticly through their packs to find something that fit but found nothing until Ana emptied the small boxes from the Redwall attic, and, suddenly, out fell a triangular piece which looked like it might fit, so they tried it... and it fit perfectly. In fact it was the third piece of the key! They fitted the pices into the hole and the doors swung open just as Polefar's army came into view. They raced inside, but the doors were too heavy for them to close, so they did the only thing they could: run. They ran down many twisting, turning tunnels until they were hopelessly lost/ But, Polefar was still behind them. They ran into a large chamber, but, they could go no farther, because the floor of the cavern ended in a steep drop into unknown depths. The friends turned and made ready to fight as Polefar and his vermin entered the room. The friends put up a good fight but it was clear that they could never hope to win against an army, even with the help of the mighty sword that Anabell carried.
Suddenly, a great rumbling noise shook the cavern and all fighting stopped. They heard it again, and again, and then, suddenly, a huge lizard-like head appeared over the edge of the cliff, and a gigantic creature came up from the deep. Things happened very quickly after that. The monster had destroyed half of the vermin army before they even realized what was happening. The five friends and Polefar were the only ones able to keep their heads and escape.
Amaryll led the friends through more tunnels until they were far away from the cave where the giant lizard was. Suddenly, they looked around and gasped at the beauty of the cave they'd stopped to rest in. The walls were covered with some kind of luminous moss which glowed both brightly and softly in every color imaginable. Then, something in the back of the room made them gasp again. Piles of gold, siver, precious stones... the treasure of the Foxfire caverns! Suddenly, they heard a pawstep behind them, and turned just in time to see Polefar coming at them with his sword drawn. When he saw that they had seen him, he charged at them with a wild cry. Ana barely had time to draw her sword before he was upon them. They fought hard, but, Polefar was nearly insane: he was NOT going to let them have the treasure! He knocked the sword from Ana's hand and had pinned her down, about to strike, when, suddenly, the head of the giant lizard appeared through the doorway. It rushed towards Polefar, who, forgetting about Ana and the others, turned to fight, giving the friends time to escape, leaving the insane polcat-ferret to his doom.
They wandered through the underground maze for days before at last they reached the surface, but they did not come to the main gates where they had entered. Instead they were someplace entirely new: a beautiful valley filled with fruit trees, and fields of corn, wheat, and vegetables, as well as many kinds of herbs, some of which they had never seen before. Truly, this was the real treasure of the Foxfire caverns! Ana, Robyn, and Amaryll climbed to the top of the hills surrounding the valley to see where they were, and discovered that they were back in Mossflower woods. In fact, from where they stood they could see the bend in the Moss river near where Redwall was! In the valley there was more good news. Reith and Nebbie had discovered the herb that could be used to cure the sick cratures in Reith's village! They returned to Redwall to find it besieged by Blackbrush's forces, but, with the help of the sword of Martin they drove the attackers off.
When Ana and Robyn told the Redwallers of the valley they had discovered, a party went off at once to go and bring back enough food to last the winter. Reith returned home with the herbs he'd found in the valley, and Amaryll went with him, but Nebbie decided to stay at Redwall (for the food, mostly). So, the Redwallers had plenty of food to last the winter, the sick creatures in Reith's village got better, and Amaryll and Nebbie found new homes, and basically they all lived happily ever after!

Close Encounted with the Third Kind
--by Juniper Arrowlance

To Luna Moonstruck, there were three kinds of creatures: beasts that lived in a horde, relied on their strength in numbers to attack, kill and plunder, and obeyed a dictator; beasts that lived by themselves, away from community and were resourceful, cunning and quickwitted; and beasts that lived together, but were good and kind to each other, had no ranking system, and didn't make attempts to attack others. Well, there were plenty of the former two: Luna was in the second category, and she had seen many a warlord to his end. But she didn't know that the third kind existed in a large population; those she had seen were mere slaves. Thus, she was surprised, when she headed south, to see so many of the third kind in one place.

Luna arrived at Mossflower Woods, and was astounded at the beauty. She had never seen such lushness and greenery in the Northlands. This place looks pretty, she thought, grinning to herself. Perfect for lootin' and thwartin'. She spent her first few months wandering around and getting herself familiarized, before getting ready for her first victim.
The first few days Luna travelled up the River Moss, enjoying the coolness of the stream and the warmth of the sun, and spending time lazing at the banks or fishing for her newly-favorite fish. It was one of these sunny days, while she was snoozing on the edge of a shallow but fast running stream, when she heard a slight rustle in the bushes nearby.
Luna didn't open her eyes; instead she listened carefully. There were whispers and crunches as more creatures ventured out, and she knew that they were surrounding her. She could tell they were armed otters. Luna waited until her foe were completely surrounding her, which she knew by the tensing of bowstrings, then made her move.
It was so sudden that the otters didn't even have time to pull back their bowstrings when Luna disappeared from the space where she was lying at. In a flash, she was on her feet and running even before her eyes had opened, and whipped out her poisoned dagger. She took a flying leap over the head of the tallest otter standing in front of her, but not before she swiped the back of his neck with the dagger. One moment she was lying relaxed on the grass; the next moment she was standing in the middle of the stream, the water only reaching halfway to her knees. She turned.
The leader was lying on the ground, twitching spasmodically. There was a cry from the otters as they rushed to their fallen leader. A moment later, one of them screamed, "He's dead! The fox killed him! Vermin!"
Luna bristled indignantly. How dare they call her, a highly acclaimed wolf mage, a dirty, low-down fox! She crossed her arms and glared at them. "Excuse me m'dear friends, but I am a wolf, in fact, a professional wolf, not one of those sneaky and shifty-eyed turncoats! You should respect a creature for what she does!" She finished, curling her lip and sniffing.
But that didn't turn off the otters. With a mass cry, the group, about ten strong, turned and rushed straight for her. Luna suddenly realised that she had struck a wrong note. Turning, the wolf fled.
Luna tore through the woods. Seasons of escaping the horde of angry warlords made her fleetfooted. But the otters were gaining up, hot for her blood. Thinking quickly, the wolf feinted, turning a sharp corner before scooting up a tree. She sat in the fork of the boughs, panting. The otters stopped running and encircled the tree, arrows nocked onto their bowstrings. Luna knew they thought they had her trapped, but she had other plans. "You think you can shoot me down? Well, just wait, a wolf in a tree isn't very easy to bag!" She shouted down, while forming a power shield around herself. The bowstrings tightened. At a shout from the leader, ten arrows shot straight for Luna.
Luna however, deflected them skillfully with her power shield, sending all the arrows flying off into different directions. As the otters grew frustrated and shot more arrows, she deflected all of them away from her, sometimes even sending them straight back to their archers. It took those dimwitted riverdogs to realise who they were dealing with. "She's magic! Aaagghhhh! The wolf can't be killed!" With that, the otters ran off.
Luna sat up in the tree for what seemed like an hour. She suddenly felt very tired, after creating the power shield. She rested and regained her breath. What stupid creatures! She thought, curling her lip in disgust. Took them longer than I expected to find out who I am. And what do they do once they discovered it? Those cowardly mudstickers turn tail and run off! No wonder they get taken as slaves, they're too stupid to defend themselves. Thank goodness I'm not a cruddy goodbeast. Luna regained her breath, satisfied that she had managed to thwart the otters so easily. However, she was unnerved that she had stepped on the wrong footpaw at that incident by the stream, and drained all her energy in making a power shield when she could've used another better method. She promised herself that she would treat goodbeasts with greater care in the future.

Thus, that was Luna's close shave and near death with the third kind: the goodbeasts.

A Mage's Worth (Part 1)
--by Juniper Arrowlance

Araloqht the Savage was in his tent, along with his four most trusted commanders. The big cougar paced the width of the small place, back and forth, while his commanders, Foralq, Qualnot, Icandol and Raf, all fierce tough wildcats, sat quietly, knowing better than to break their leader's thoughts.
Finally, the cougar stopped and fix, on his commanders, eyes that were so black and flat that they didn't seem to reflect light. Despite their fearsome nature, each wildcat felt a shiver run up his spine. Araloqht wasn't called the Savage for no reason. He controlled almost all of the deep Northlands, and everbeast bowed to his whim. He regarded them for some time, then finally spoke.
"My most trusted commanders, what should I do? I've heard of her ultimate notoriety throughout the Deep North, her innate abilities to destroy everybeast with a simple flick of her fingers, her mysterious power that enables her to survive any horde's onslaught, no matter how strong. If I put my trust in her, she might turn myself against me. But, on the other hand, with her abilities on my side, I will be the most powerful warlord in the entire Northlands! My domain will be at my feet, bowing to my every whim and wish. Think of what power this mystic can bring me! You are my most trusted officers, serving me for many seasons, and I await your reply."
The wildcat commanders were silent for some time. Then, Qualnot spoke. "We should trust her m'lord. After all, what can a simple trickster do to us? One false move and we pin-cushion her with arrows. She can't escape our power, we're two times too strong for her."
Icandol gave a loud snort of contempt. "Oh, Qualnot, you think it's that easy? Ha, haven't you met a seer before? Or a fortune teller? Or even a mage? You're been livin' at ease for two long, haven'cha?" When Qualnot didn't reply, Icandol continued.
"I've been ups n' downs the Northlands. I've seen vixens, seers, gypsies, dogfox tricksters. More 'n' anybeast else, they're a crafty lot, them foxes. Steal yeh whiskers from your nose. What simple trickster? I'd bet she's got more up her sleeve than the looks o' her!" There was a long silence. Then, Raf said, "I've met seers before. But this vixen, telling from your description, O m'lord, is going to give us a great deal of help. Besides, m'lord, it's not everyday that you get your own personal seer. Let's take her. You will have no regrets, sire, vixen's with this sorta power are a great help to one."
Raf's speech convinced Araloqht and he stood up. "Very well, my trusted commander. Your words are absolutely correct. Let us go out to meet this mystical fox."
Raf swelled with pride from the compliment as they exited the tent and headed towards two guards who stood on either side of another figure. But before they were halfway there, Araloqht whispered to Foralq, "What's this vixen's name?"
Foralq replied, "her name is Luna Moonstruck."

Of Warlords and Wolves (Part 2)

Luna Moonstruck yawned and shifted her position for the thousandth time. The wolf was getting impatient. Why was he taking so darned long? Warlords aren't always that thoughtful when dealing with a mage, she thought irritably. Sighing, Luna leant casually against one of the guards beside her. The weasel snapped, "Yo! Wotcher tryin' tah do?" He pulled away, expecting her to fall.
But Luna didn't! Her body remained in the exact position that it was when she leant against him. It was the queerest sight: a wolf leaning on thin air?
"I'm bored," she said plaintively, yawning. The weasel was struck dumb, but just then, Araloqht the Savage and his four wildcat commanders came striding up.
Araloqht was rather taken aback the moment he set eyes on the new seer, but the wildcats didn't conceal their surprise as well. Raf pointed. "Hey, seer! How didjaw do that?"
Luna raised her eyebrows as she glanced up at the towering wildcat throught half-lidded eyes. "It's called leaning on air," she said casually. The somewhat slow-witted Raf tried, and landed in a heap. Foralq kicked him roughly.
"Quit the foolin', can'cha see she's magic?" Raf immediately straightened himself. Araloqht stood in front of Luna with arms akimbo, waiting for a reaction to his appearance. When he received none, the cougar spoke in a thunderous voice. "Vixen! D'you know who I am?"
Luna looked up at the Savage the same way she regarded Raf. "Eh? Who're you talkin' to?"
Araloqht glared at her. "You of course. Have you learnt manners towards a warlord, fox?"
Without warning, Luna was suddenly wide awake as she returned Araloqht's glare with one of such ferocity that it made the warlord recoil momentarily. "And have YOU learnt respect towards a mage, cat? Number one: I am a wolf, a respected wolf, not a lowdown, scurvy, scumridden, orange hairball that's a poor excuse for a fox. Number two: I am a mage, and I am hard to buy. A mage doesn't sell her skills like a mousemaid selling candied chestnuts, so if you want me you'd better have a good bargain on hand. And number three: you and your pussies better treat me with respect. One wrong move and you're outta business. Got that?"
The warlord and his officers were completely caught off guard by the harshness of the wolf. Araloqht was rendered speechless and gutless by Luna's bright piercing blue-green eyes which seemed to bore right through him. His mouth worked, but no sound came out. Luna stared at him for another minute, then shook her head.
"Ah, warlords. They're all bark and no bite. You yell at them, and they get tongue-tied. Can't even speak properly. Stars, I don't have time for banter and chitchat. Are we goin' to cut a deal or not?" she snapped, tapping her footpaw impatiently.
Still flabbergasted, Araloqht nodded dumbly and gestured to his tent. As the wolf headed in front of him, he wondered what kind of creature this mage was. Maybe an alliance with her didn't sound so good anymore.
