There's a short story that goes behind this title, and you probably won't get it unless you actually hear the record. I was coming out of my journalism class one afternoon and heard the belltower at Catawba Valley Community College play a Beatles song [the one that says 'Michelle, my bell...'] No one believed me [though it IS a belltower]. So I recruited Thad, grabbed my tape recorder, and set out to prove them wrong. I'm not telling how everything turns out, but our conversation leading up to the point when I guessed it would play is the main attraction. I broke it up in parts and interspersed it throughout the record.

I think this recording contains my best attempt at making music. More specifically, the best are "Sorority Girl" and "Going to Maryland", which is live from Drips' with my homemade sound system and a bass guitar borrowed from Erin Guffey at Selector Records. I also like the untitled #12, a long improv with Thad and Robert from the time we recorded "Lie Still, Little Bottle" on our first record.
