Baltimore Defense Force

The Baltimore Defense Force (BDF) handles all of the normal, day to day security and defense of the Baltimore Commonwealth. There are three different divisions of the BDF, the Army, Police, and Navy. The army divisions of the BDF number at more than 115,000 members, with an additional 50,000 on reserve. The police divisions of the BDF number at about 20,000 officers and investigators. The naval division of the BDF numbers at 25,000 officers and sailors.

The BDF uses a variation of the rank system used by the American Empire Army.

Presented below are examples of the uniformed members of the BDF.

BDF Soldiers

The Soldiers are the mainstay of the BDF. They fill every role from the grunts of the Army, to the lower ranked officers of the police force. The Soldier pictured here is wearing standard full environmental light armor (40 MDC), along with a heavy armor breast plate (+50 MDC) and shield (30 MDC).

BDF Officers

The Officers of the BDF command everything from Monster Zone Patrols to the City Wall Defense Forces. There are two types of Officers, the Army/Naval Officers and the Police Officers. While both types have the same basic training, the Military Officers specialize in strategy and tactics, while the Police Officers specialize in crowd control and law enforcement. The two officers pictured here are examples of the Military Officer (green chestplate) and the Police Officer (blue chestplate). Besides standard light full environmental armor, they can also wear the armor breast plate, carry a shield, and use a mono-sword.

BDF Investigators

The Investigators are a special arm of the BDF. They handle all of the different types of investigation, military and criminal. Investigators can be found investigating murder scenes, raid areas, or doing undercover work for either the police or the military. Investigators wear a special medium weight full environmental body armor that does not impede their prowl abilities (60 MDC).

Navy UnderSea Combat Specialists

The UnderSea Combat Specialists (USCS), also known as Oscars, are the premier soldiers of the Baltimore Navy. Trained in all the tricks of underwater combat, they launch into combat from the mini-subs of Baltimore. They can be found inspecting harbor piers and the Harbor Tunnel Nexi, or battling sea creatures throughout the Chesapeake Bay. When training, they use standard Navy body armor, but in combat situations they can be found using either the Orca-50 or the Orca-100 Deep Sea Power Armor.
