The Shaman position was originally responsible for all maters relating in anyway to magic.  Another way to say it is all matters not concerning melee.  Some of the more successful Shamans have included the likes of Apocalypse, Soulofblack, and Altara..  These three, and others served their position well and would go on to hold other positions in the tribe, sometimes under other names.

In the past, the Trolls and Orks couldn't view each other's Race Channels.  I mention this so you can appreciate how much work the Pack Master's of old used to do.  With this in mind, Gigas and Lazerus must be mentioned for all of their hard work and efforts within the tribe.  At any one time, they were the only ones who could inform the tribe of how many trolls were on at that time. They were also responsible for recruiting and assisting those trolls who had yet to join the tribe.

Leaders

Orkan tribes are led by a Warlord, although there are three other leadership positions in each of the tribes: Warband Leader, Shaman, and Pack Master.

The Warlord has ultimate authority over everything concerning his/her tribe.  Yes, his or her.  Orks do not care who they follow so long as they are the strongest and can bring them the most glory.  As mentioned, the Warlord has supreme authority over all matters.  Orkan society is not a democratic one.  What the Warlord wants, the tribe wants.  What the Warlord decides, the tribe follows.  Needless to say, one must not be ignorant or head strong if one is Warlord for the race is fickle.  If the Warlord's judgments do not bring strength or glory, they are usually killed and replaced.  The more successful Warlords in the history of Akzar'gorak have thus listened to the advice of the tribes other leaders although the Warlord is by no means required to.  In general, the Warlord is responsible for what direction the tribe is going, declaring wars, dealing with the Orkan Gods and Patrons, and setting an example for the rest of the tribes as far as recruiting, scalping, killing, and defending the home of The Horde.  The Warlord can be of any Guild, and either ork or troll, although it is recommended the Warlord be an Ork.

Once you accept that ultimate power rests with the Warlord, you can survive in Orkan society.  The remaining three leaders exist in the form of generals, commanding or being responsible for the actions and concerns of that sect of the tribe.  Each of the remaining leaders has equal power among them.

The Warband Leader is the leader of all orks in the tribe who fight by way of melee combat.  In times of war, the Warband Leader can often be found at the battle front, leading the troops.  All concerns of the tribes' Fighters, Pirates, Dark Knights, and Budokas are expressed to the Warband Leader, who deals with such issues as he sees fit.  Although not strictly melee users, the War Wizards, and Shamans (guild) may address some concerns to the Warband Leader due to their use of melee combat, although most of their concerns are addressed by the tribe Shaman.   The Warband Leader may be of any guild, although it is recommended it be a melee using guild.  Meanwhile, the Shaman position is not to be confused with the Shaman's Guild.  The Shaman of the Tribe in times of war is responsible for coordinating the battle magic's and magical defenses that are needed to battle the surface dwellers.  The Shaman of the tribe is responsible for addressing the concerns of all magic users of the tribe.  This primarily includes the Shamans, Pyromancers, War Wizards, and Occultists.  The Shaman position has to be occupied by someone belonging to one of these four guilds, and it is highly recommended that it be of the Shaman's Guild.

Upon the rediscovery of our Troll brethren, it was decided that the tribes needed a representative for all issues concerning the trolls.  The Gods then decided the position of Pack Master was necessary.  The Pack Master was responsible for addressing issues concerning all trolls.  However, the Troll race has found disfavor among the Gods, and is almost extinct.  Because of this and because of low numbers, the Pack Master may also be an Ork.

When the our Troll brethren came upon a renaissance of sorts, changes were implemented.  Currently, the trolls and orks have access to each others' race channels.  Additionally, the position of Pack Master has been discontinued and replaced with that of Warlock.  Currently, the Warlock is responsible for all matters of magic within the tribe, while the Shaman is responsible for all duties relating to shamanistic activities such as resurrection and chaotic rites, as well as recruiting other shamans to the tribe.

Perhaps the most famous Ork of all time was Kinslayer.  Also known once as Soulofblack, he was a grizzled veteran on RoD, and was truly the epitome of the Horde.  He was singlehandedly responsible for several of the Hordes revivals, as well as one or two of it's downfalls.  It was his passion and leadership that led to several of Illneval's greatest triumphs including the Wargs, and the inital ideas and push for the Warhorn, the Blood Maul, and the Tattoo/Title quest.

The Warband Leader, also known as the Officer,  should not be considered the second in command, nor the heir to the Warlord.  However,  history has proven otherwise.  Usually, the Officer and Warlord see eye to eye and the Officer is thus qualified to handle things if the Warlord is not on.  Additionally, many Officers have become Warlord when the previous one left or retired.  Three people in which these things have been best demonstrated are Boroug, Stuggas and Mateo, whom have all gone on to serve successfully as Warlord.

Being a new position, nothing has yet happened to describe the history or characteristics of the Warlock.  However, it is safe to say, that this person will be some type of magic user, responsible for all magic aspects of the tribe including recruiting and defenses.
