Little Earthquakes
"Doesn't take much to rip us into pieces" - Tori Amos, "Little Earquakes"

Once in a blue moon you find a work of art - be it music or a picture or a book or whatever - that just enchants you totally and makes you feel better whenever you listen to it. For me, that work is "Little Earthquakes". The combination of the lyrics, piano playing, and Tori's voice just touch me inside in a way that few other works can. The poignancy of songs like "Winter", the heart-felt emotion of "Crucify" and "Silent All These Years"... They make me believe in magic and fill me with wonder and a sense of joy about life and the universe in general.

They also bring back memories of me lying in a friend's bed early in the morning, reading "Sandman" comics while listening to this album. Which is a double irony since not only are Neil Gaiman and Tori Amos friends, but it was also this same friend who introduced me to the works of both. And who I enventually drove to distraction by playing this album way too often whever I went round there. But I have my own copy now.

There are an immesurable number of Tori Amos sites out there on the Web if you're interested in finding out more, but the best one of these to start with has to be A Dent In The Tori Amos Net Universe. Otherwise, just go out and buy her albums. It really is the best way to find out more.

(Please note, all pictures displayed here are not mine are used without permission of their owners because I'm recommending that you go out and buy more of their stuff. However, should they disapprove, please can they mail me and I'll remove them.)

Onto the next album
